"You should really find someone, bro." The king of the gods said to his brother, Hades, king of the Underworld. Hades was pretty sure that his brother was drunk, but that wasn't anything new.
"I'm fine on my own, Zeus."
"No you're not. Since Persephone ran away you stopped caring. You should go out! Have fun! You only live once!" Hades couldn't believe that his (very drunk) brother had the audacity to say that to him.
"I only live once because I'm immortal."
"Yeah right." Zeus scoffed. "And I'm the king of the skies."
"Yes, you are," Hades sighed. "Let's just take you home."
"What about that mortal that you like? The one in the park with the book. What 's her name? Oral? Iris?"
"It 's Opal." The god of the Underworld sighed, annoyed by the fact that he even told his brother of her anyway.
"Opal, right. If you don't do anything about her I might have a little fun with her myself." Zeus offered.
"No you won't." Hades was starting to get weirdly possessive of the mortal that he hadn't even had a conversation with. But he wouldn't let his brother lay a finger on her.
"Fine. But everyone can tell that you like her. It's ridiculous."
Hades mumbled something among the lines of "you're the one who's ridiculous" but his brother was either too drunk to hear anything quieter than the normal conversational tone or he simply chose to remain unbothered. At least, with being drunk came being honest and that was something Hades needed in his life. He was tired of being lied to, he was tired of everyone. Because where could he find someone honest these days? He had a feeling that she would be the type of person to be honest in a very blunt way. That would be nice, he would like that. Maybe Zeus was right. Maybe he should do something about it. Maybe this was his only opportunity of finding someone to fill the pathetic void he carried every single day of his monotonous and pathetic life. He could not bear the thought of an opportunity as good as the one presented to him at that moment to be lost because he was a coward.
He had made a decision, he was going after her and it didn't matter what it cost.
