I walked into the restaurant and saw my dad sitting there as if he owns the place. I sat down and Anele stood a little far from us but within distance.
Dad: you look lovely
Me: thank you
Dad: I see your husband got you a guard, nice of him to think of your safety.
Me: I guess
A waiter came and I ordered orange juice,i knew food won't go down.
Dad: you sure that all?
Me: yes.
He ordered a platter for two. I knew the other half was mine even though i said am fine.
Dad: read the contract?
Me: No
Dad: why not?
Me: still wrapping my head around the fact that my father just treated me as one of his business proposal!!
Dad: watch your mouth young lady.
I kept quiet as I calmed my inner voice that was screaming.
Dad: They coming Saturday for the traditional part of things
Me: I haven't even signed the papers or said yes.
My dad laughed and looked at me and I saw that evil satisfied smile.
Dad: oh honey, I don't need your approval!
I looked at him.
Dad: i was just giving you that contact so you can read what I expect from you and your signature. I wasn't asking if you consent or not!!
I felt the tears at the back of my eyes.
Me: am old enough to make my own decisions
Dad: that true
Me: Than why are you doing this?
He looked at me for sometime and smiled.
Dad: Because I can.
The waiter walked in with our drinks and I couldn't contain it anymore. The pain in my chest and my throat was in knots.
Me: I think its best I leave.
I was about to get up when he raised his hand.
Dad: No, you going to sit down with your loving father. Have lunch and talk about this weekend when the Royals are coming home.
He said it satisfied and proud of himself as I wiped the tear that escaped my eye.Phiwamandla
