Word Count: 244You make my heart spin sorrow into silk
I sat on the edge of the bed, my mind reeling. I was so tired but my brain wouldn't let me sleep.
I looked through the window and saw the pitch black sky, stars splattered on the sky like white paint.
I got up and made my way towards the balcony's doors. Once I opened them, what skin wasn't covered was met with a cool wind.
I leaned against the railing and stared at the sky, trying to sort through my thoughts.
Silently attempting to solve all my problems, the sky stared right back at me.
"What are you doing up?" I heard behind me.
I turned around and saw Juan. I gave him a small smile before saying, "Can't sleep."
"Ah." He said, giving a slight nod before walking over to stand next to me.
"What's bothering you?" He asked.
"Nothing. It's just my paranoia again. I worry that the federales will find us out."
"We're gonna be fine," he said, putting a hand on my back, "They won't catch us. We'll be long gone before they figure it out."
"I hope that's true." You said with a slight bit of relief in your voice.
"It is. I mean, we're the Mexican cartel. They'll never catch us."
You make me sleep like a young child with warm milk
"Now come on. Let's go back to bed."
You held me tighter when I pushed you away
