Word Count: 319Pastel orange and yellow clouds floated above you. The sky serving as a pale blue canvas for them.
The bite in the air made the tip of your nose feel numb.
You gripped the railing that separated you from the river, the ring on your finger clanking against the metal.
You decided to break the silence. You gave a small sigh, your breath clearly visible due to the cold air.
"I just- uh..."
You took a deep breath before gathering your thoughts.
You stared at the sky's bright reflection in the water as you took your time.
"Shit, Davey, I'm scared."
You turned to look at him, your eyes glistened.
Your concern shocked him as he had never seen you this somber before. But he shrugged it off, nevertheless.
He nodded for you to continue.
"W- What if they come after you? What if they try to kill you?"
"I doubt they'd do that. Michael and I go way back, he'd never let them lay a finger on me."
"Don't be so sure. They're fucking psychopaths, Dave. I wouldn't put it past them."
Dave got up from his place on the bench and placed a hand on your upper arm.
"You worry too much, Y/N. I think you should get some rest, it's almost 10."
"No!" You said, slightly raising your voice as you yanked your arm from his grasp and rested your elbows on the railing.
"I'm fine. It isn't the sleep deprivation that's getting to me."
"When's the last time you've slept?"
"2 weeks ago," you joked, "Besides, when's the last time you slept?"
"Y/N... Go home."
"Ok, fine. I'm done arguing with you. But promise me," you suddenly turned around and quickly embraced him, shoving your face into his chest.
"Promise that you'll marry me when this shit-show is over."
Dave wrapped his arms around you before answering with, "Of course. I promise."
