*Lucy POV*
When we got the the house the woman outside, clearly drunk by the way she stumbled, made her way over to the front gate to escort Skylar into the house.
I was not prepared for what I witnessed next. I watched as this woman hit Skylar as hard as she possibly could have over the back and watched as Skylar stumbled over being hit.
It made me worry so so much when there was nothing I could do but leave her there because she didn't know who I was. To her, i was just a footballer that was being nice to her. As soon as we got home I messaged her. I waited about 10 minutes.. no reply. I sent another. 20 minutes later still no reply. I messaged one more time and about 3 minutes after my phone pinged. I ran straight over to it and it was Skylar.
After having a conversation with Skylar I turned to Keira to tell her.
Lucy- she said she's okay, but im not too sure. I'm meeting her tomorrow at Jill's shop so I'll know more then
Keira- we have training tomorrow Luce
Lucy- I'm meeting her after, at 4pm
Keira- ohh okay
Lucy- I'm going to find out what's going on Kei, I'm so worried
Keira- me too Luce, me too. Do youa want me to come with you?
Lucy- I think I should do this on my own
Keira- okay, ill be right here waiting when you get back
Lucy- thank you Keira
*the next day*
Training could not have gone any slower today. It rolled around 3:30pm. I must have thought I was in a race car with the way I was driving through the streets of Manchester.
The coffee shop normally closes at 3pm, but because I asked to meet Skylar there, Jill and her fiancè agreed to keep it open for us only, which I was so thankful for.
I got there at 3:50 so I had 10 minutes to wait for Skylar to show up.
She got there at 3:58. As soon as she walked in I saw it. She was on a limp and there was a purple circle around her eye that she had covered with concealer but it was still peaking through. I need to get her out of that house.
Lucy- Skylar! Are you okay? What did she do to you??
Skylar- she didn't
Lucy- what do you mean?
Skyalr- my ex girlfriend did this
Lucy- oh Skylar, come here
I pull her into a hug but notice straight away that she flinches.
Lucy- can you explain to me what happened?
Skylar- its a long story
Lucy- take all the time you need
Skylar- okay I'll start with the fact that im adopted. I've been in the system since I was a baby, mother didn't want me, no dad in the picture apparently. All I know is that Skylar is my birth name. I was tossed around Foster homes until I was 7, then I was placed with my current parents, well parent. So the past 7 years were so lovely, they decided to adopt me 6 years ago. At the start of this year my dad passed away and that's when my mom, Anna started to get abusive, she drinks a lot, its her way of coping I guess. Before he passed we were a happy family. Its only been 7 months but I miss him so much everyday. When she drinks its like she's a different person, she gets angry and takes her anger out on me.
Lucy- Skylar I'm so sorry about that. What about this girlfriend?
Skylar- I've been with her for 5 months. Alice, her name is. Things were good for the first 2 months but then she got jealous. I was hanging round with other people and she didn't like it so she "punished" me by hitting me and hurting me. I tried to leave her before but it got worse. So I had no choice but to stay with her and ditch everyone else. Last night I finally managed to get rid of her for good. Hence the black eye
Licy- when I hugged you, you flinched?
Skylar- yeah um she kicked me right before she left, in the chest as hard as she possibly could. I've been in pain ever since.
Lucy- we need to get you to the hospital Skylar, now! Let's go
I don't say another word, not wanting to push her anymore than I already had. All of what she just told me was so horrible that she had to go through. I wish I could take all the pain away for her, but I can't do that.
We get to the hospital and are immediately seen by the clubs medical team. I could see the worry in her face so I do my best to reassure her.
Lucy- you'll be okay, ill be here the whole time and they won't ask any questions that dont need to be asked.
Nurse- right, who do we have here then?
Lucy- this is Skylar, shes having pain in her chest
Nurse- how long have you felt like this?
Skylar- since last night
Nurse- right okay, can you rate the pain 1-10 for me?
Skylar- about an 8
Nurse- right we will need to do an xray
I take her into the room to get an xray done and then we go back to the other room.
10 minutes later the nurse returns with the results
Nurse- right so you have broken 2 ribs, you'll be off your feet for a while, no physical activity and we advise you to move as little as possible
Lucy- thank you Nurse
Skylar- when will I be able to play sports agin?
Nurse- give it 2 weeks and see how you feel
Skylar- thank you
In the car, I'm taking her back home. I'm so hesitant to do so but she reassures me that she's okay.
Lucy- are you sure you want to do this?
Skylar- yes Lucy ill be okay
Lucy- okay, ill be in touch with the social worker and request an emergency placement for you to be in my care
Skylar- you don't have to do that
Lucy- I do, I really do. I will call you later when I've got it sorted okay?
Skylar- yeah, ill see you later
As soon as I get home I get questioned by Keira
Keira- hey, what took you so long?
Lucy- we had to go to the hospital
Keira- why? Are you okay? Is Skylar okay?
Lucy- Skylar has 2 broken ribs. She's going to need to take it easy for the next couple of weeks
Keira- what? How did that happen?
Lucy- ill tell you later, I have to make a call okay?
Keira- okay?
Lucy- I promise I'll fill you in after
