CHALTER 26

"Happy birthday!" I heard so many voices yelling in my ear.

"Oh my, thank you so much guys." I was lying it was midnight and I was just looking at my phone I got up and hugged everyone there, till it was the last person I had to hug, Tristan. There's nothing wrong with him but I think it's still a bit awkward, but I hugged everyone so I hugged him too.

"You didn't have to." He whispered in my ears.

"I wanted to." I whispered in his ears and detached myself from him and smiled at him, he gave a small smile back.

That was the prettiest smile I had seen in a while.

You have a boyfriend Elyse.

Yeah that. I have a boyfriend, speaking of which, where's he?

"Happy birthday sweet pea." My mom wished me.

"Thank you mom."

"Happy birthday Elyse."  Dad greeted me.

"Thanks dad."

"He ready today evening for your birthday ball." He said. I'm gonna have a ball for my birthday? Isn't that a bit too much? I mean I would be happy spending time with just the people I care about on my birthday not with a bunch of fake people.

"Why do we need to have a ball?" I questioned.

"It's your 21st birthday, plus it'll be a good opportunity to look for a groom for you from the royal families." He said.

A groom? I don't want to have a fucking child marriage. I just turned 21

"I'm dating Cole." 

"I know but you and I both know it's not going to last and in royal families we do not adhere to the divorces and we want you to be happy."

"What if I don't marry someone from the royal family?" I dare to ask.

"Then mind me Elyse, it won't be good for you."

"What if the council goes in favour of breaking the marriage law?" I questioned, I know I'm playing with fire but one thing I know I have to try my best to make the council in favour if not for me then at least I owe this much to Nick even if I don't like Alessandra that much.

"I don't care." He said and stormed off my room throwing my gift at me. If he wants to give the gift this way u don't want it he can keep it for himself. Knowing how much of a sexist person he is he would've probably got me a kitchen set it makeup set or a Barbie something.

Everyone wished me gave me my gifts and went out of their rooms. Great start for a birthday, is it not? Only Tristan was left.

"Why are you still here?" I asked him.

"I haven't given you my gift yet." He said.

"So what do you have for me?" I asked. He told me to wait for a moment with his hand and he went out to get the gift I suppose.

He came back in after 5 minutes and brought a pretty white box and handed it over to me.

"What's in it?" I asked.

"Shall I open it? Please?" He said.

"Sure." I said. I don't really like people opening my gifts but he's asking so sweetly I had to give the chance to him.

He opened the box and first handed me a dandelion.

"Wish for whatever you want and know that you're always loved." He said handing me the dandelion. I smiled at him.

Next he took out an iris it was I suppose, I do have a great interest in flowers.

"Know that I always admire you for your wisdom and the courage you show."

I passed him a smile again this time even a bigger one.

Now he pulled out an orchid and gave it to me.

"Just so you know that you're the most beautiful and the strongest girl I ever met." He said and smiled.

I threw him a flying kiss he caught it and put it in the box. That was cute.

Next he handed me a lily.

"You're the most innocently un-innocent person." He said and I laughed and he joined me.

"Are there any more?" I asked him.

He nodded. And raised two fingers.

He pulled out a lavender. I raised my eyebrows.

"You have to try to be calm and serene, anger at all times is not good." He said. I laughed lightly.

Then it was the last one he gave me a small bouquet of yellow red pink and white roses.

"These are because I'm thankful that you're my friend and I know you'll be there for me when I need you." He said and handed me the roses.

He made me cry. I got up and gave him a hug.

"Thank you so much, this is the best gift I've ever received." I said against his chest. He felt so warm and safe?

"Come on now don't lie." He scoffed.

"I'm not lying." I said.

"There's more." He said.

"What else you got?" I asked confused, he already gave me so much, what else could he have for me?

"I know you like to write so this is for you." He gave me a diary and a pen they were both so beautiful. It was pink, white and black marble textured diary with a full black pen.

"Thank you so much, I love all this." I said and kissed him on his cheek. I don't know why I did that I just felt like it. I saw his ears flushed. I kept looking at him and he kept looking at me and I didn't even know when both of our lips leaned towards each other and we finally kissed. It kept going on for moments which felt like they were the best 43 seconds of my life. Yes I counted.

Suddenly he pulled apart. I felt rejection and it was not a good feeling.

"We are not supposed to do this, you're- you're my friends girlfriend. I shouldn't have done it. I'm sorry." He rambled.

"It's alright, yea- we shouldn't have, I'm sorry too." I said.

Could this be anymore awkward?

"I think I should uh leave and yea happy birthday once again."

"Yeah you should... thanks by the way." I said, he nodded and left.

What just happened?
