A cool breeze set the temperature on that Saturday afternoon. Steely, her father, and uncle Ice were lounging about on the couch in their living room watching a random channel. She had no plans that day and was enjoying some down time. Luckily she had woken up without a hangover from the night before.Steely and her father were wearing matching pajamas bought for Christmas a few years ago. It was a beautiful day that she intended to spend inside the house, there's not wrong with that. Sometimes she just liked to stay in the house more often than not wrapped up in her bed. Today she felt like migrating to the couch and not getting up unless she absolutely had too.
"Steel would you be a doll and go grab me a soda from the fridge?" her father turned towards her giving her a sickly sweet smile.
"No."
"C'mon you're closer...please," He begged pulling the blanket off her lap.
"Actually Ice is closer make him do it," she crossed her arms over her chest refusing to get up.
"He is our guest."
"Oh lay off the he is our guest bullshit, he's here more than hes at his house."
Iceman just laughed throwing up his hands. She was right and there was no denying that fact.
"Seriously we should start charging rent," she pointed her finger at Ice gaining his attention once more "I charge $50 extra for pet fees."
"Sweetheart I don't have a pet," Toms expression was puzzled as he tried to figure out what she meant by pet fees.
"Really? what do you call Maverick," Her eyebrows raised in a questioning sense.
"Fuck off Maverick isn't that bad."
Everyone was silent for about two seconds before the room erupted in the sound of laughter. Steely leaned forward and clutched her stomach. Her fathers head was thrown back against the couch as he laughed loudly.
"Yeah I don't even know how I got that sentence out."
"It's okay we all have to lie to ourselves sometimes," she finally gave up and dragged herself off the chair and towards the kitchen. As she opened up the fridge the doorbell rang.
"I'll get it!" she heard Ice yell and the sound of his feet heading towards the door.
She rounded back into the living room and handed her dad the soda before falling back down on the couch, chin tucked into her hands. Iceman popped his head around the corner and flashed Steely a sinister smirk.
"It's for you."
Steely's eyebrows knit together as she once again pulled herself off the couch and padded towards the door. Ice stepped back and gave her a childish rub on the top of her head. She swat his hands away before swinging open the door.
"Bradshaw? what are you doing here?"
"How are you?" he asked smiling down at her.
"I'm fine, and you?"
"Good. Good."
"As much as I love this little game of catch up I'm still wondering what you're doing here," she switched her weight from one foot to the other with her hand still rested on the door.
"I can't tell you or it will ruin the surprise."
"Okayyy, what surprise?"
"Cute pajamas you'll want to change out of them before we leave," she looked down and her snowman covered bottoms.
"Bradley im not going anywhere with you especially since you didn't ask," it was his turn to knit his eyebrows together.
"Huh? we talked about this last night," she shook her head and looked up towards the ceiling.
