"You really do have a super busy schedule, huh?" remarked Carver, cuddling my form on his lap while Denver packed his suitcase.
My suitcase was already by the door with my backpack, so I was ready to go. Carver had dropped by for a quick visit before he had to head out to a job or something.
Denver peeked around the bedroom doorway. "Yes, but luckily for me I have my baby boy, so I won't be lonely anymore."
Carver laughed. "I get it!"
I tilted my head. "What do you do for work, Carver?"
He smiled at me. "I am an architect. I work both online and offline, and sometimes I get job offers internationally. That's why it's a bit lucky for me that Denver's schedule and my own coincide, so we'll all be busy until we get back."
"Ooh, okay." I grinned, then heard Denver say, "He's surprisingly humble around you, Emil. Carver is a world-class architect—super famous, in better terms."
My jaw dropped and I stared at Carver. He blushed a bit and scratched his cheek. "Yeah, well, I'm just Denver's annoying best friend right now."
"And my best friend." I added with a pout, quirking my lips to the side.
Carver's eyes lit up. "Really?"
I nodded, then was immediately smothered with a hug and kisses to my cheeks. I lightly pushed on his face until he calmed down a bit. He was still really happy, though.
"You're such a good little boy, Emil." he whispered, hugging me tightly. "Thank you."
I giggled. "For what?"
"For...I don't know. But thank you."
I hugged his neck and felt him squeeze my form a bit tighter. Carver kept hugging me until Daddy started shutting off the lights to prompt us to head for the door. Daddy reached for me, but Carver was reluctant to hand my form over. Daddy frowned and quirked his lips to the side, then sighed aloud.
"Fine, you can carry Em to my car."
Carver grinned. "Thanks, Denny." he teased, then dodged my daddy's smack.
Daddy snorted. "Watch what you say, Carver. I can take my baby boy anytime."
I giggled when Carver pouted and turned his head. I patted his light brown hair and smiled to cheer him up. Carver aww'd aloud and cooed at me, snuggling me a bit more while Daddy collected my things. I glanced at my daddy and his jealous expression was blatant.
"Daddy, want a kiss?" I asked, and a blush spread across his cheeks.
"I will wait on that, sweetheart. Thank you for the kind offer."
Carver snickered. "Aww, little Denny is shy!"
Immediately, Daddy's ice-blue eyes sharpened and he straightened with a fierce glare on his face. Carver's eyes widened and his face paled as Daddy began marching towards us. Carver backed away and shrieked as Daddy began to chase him around the apartment. I giggled gleefully and hung on, laughing louder when Carver fumbled for the door. He managed to get the door open and stumble halfway out of the apartment before Daddy's large hand curled around the doorframe.
"Carver..." growled Daddy, a cold, sharp tone to his voice. "What did I tell you?"
Carver slowly turned his head with teary eyes. "I'll be good, I promise. I just want to cuddle Emil a little longer. Please?"
Daddy's glare increased tenfold and Carver whimpered. I sighed. "Daddy, just for a few more minutes?"
His eyes softened and he gently kissed my left cheek. "All right, sweetheart. You can discipline Carver in my place."
