"I can't believe you actually went under contract to purchase that place. Are you sure, Denver?"

I eyed Carver over the back of the couch as he whispered quite loudly to my lover. Denver sighed aloud.

"There's no point in whispering, you dolt. Emil can hear you." he said plainly, so I nodded when Carver glanced back at me. Denver added, "Besides, you're the one who introduced this property to me. Why are you upset?"

Carver twiddled his thumbs. "I-I'm not upset, just worried that you might regret it later."

"Why? Because it's too much maintenance?"

"That, and it's a bit of a drive to get to the city."

"Fifteen minutes to reach the outskirts is not bad at all."

Carver chewed on his bottom lip. "Okay, if you're sure..."

In the midst of all this, I had been analyzing Carver's actions. I'm certain Denver and I know why he's acting like this, but my lover wanted me to approach our best friend about it. I got off the couch and stepped over to Carver in my brown bear slippers, wearing my matching hoodie with ears on the hood and a tail at the back. Carver's blue eyes sparkled as I took his hand.

"You're so cute, Emil..." he whispered, gently squeezing my fingers.

"Carver," I started, taking hold of both his hands in mine. He seemed overwhelmed for some reason. I went on to ask, "Are you on the fence because you're going to be lonely without us nearby?"

"Wh-what?" breathed Carver, then looked away for a moment. "No, that's not true."

I leaned over and looked up at his face. "Are you sure?"

His bottom lip trembled and he clenched his jaw. "N-no..."

"Want a hug?"

Carver scooped me up without a moment to waste and tucked my head under his chin. I could hear his heart pounding a fast beat in his chest, which eased slightly as he took a few deep breaths with Denver's guidance. I hugged Carver's neck and felt him relax more.

"I'm sorry, Denver, Emil. I'm so used to being around you both that I'm a little...scared that things won't be the same when you leave me here."

Carver had spoken very quietly, but Denver had definitely heard him standing at our best friend's left side. My beloved man met my gaze and nodded, so I smiled happily.

"Carver, if this contract closes and we get the property, we will have a designated room for you to come and visit us for days at a time. If you want, of course. No pressure."

Carver's heart was pounding for a different reason this time as he breathlessly asked, "R-really?"

"Really," I replied with a grin, moving my head so he could see my genuine expression.

"Really, really?"

Denver groaned. "Yes, that is the plan."

Carver suddenly hugged Denver with his left arm, keeping me trapped against his right side. He smiled happily. "I'm really happy to know that."

"Yes, we can see that."

"Aw, don't be so cold!"

"Shut up."

I grinned at my lover's banter with our best friend. Carver was grinning while Denver looked quite happy, too.

"I guess there is a room for your dad, too?"

"Yes, and enough rooms for three kids. Although I suppose Emil can use all three if he wants."

My cheeks warmed and I smiled happily when Denver tousled my hair. Carver nosed my left cheek and then sighed softly. "I want to find someone like you did, Denver."
