After that sweet moment of them outside, Jennie and Lisa went inside the house. It's Lisa's second time getting in there, but she already knows and has memorized the place. She is thinking about possibly explaining everything to Jennie tonight, but the thought that she might spoil the mood hits her. She just looked around while sitting on the sofa in the living room. Jennie went to get some food from the kitchen. She could see her from afar, though.
Jennie: Honey? Hey!? Are you listening? *pinches Lisa's cheeks*
Lisa: Uh. I am sorry. *collapses her thoughts as soon as she feels Jennie's hands on her cheeks* What were you saying again?
Jennie: Tell me what's on your mind. What is going on? *sits beside Lisa on the sofa and holds her hands*
Lisa: Uhmm. Look at me. *Also holds Jennie's hands* What do you see in me, hon? *she asks without even smiling*
Jennie: I can see that you are about to tell me something profound, and you need all the luck to tell me precisely what is on your mind. Do it now, hon. *replies without smiling, but she presses Lisa's hands firmly*
Lisa: I know I cannot lie to you or hide things from you. I have been thinking things over since we arrived here in Thailand. *she responds by caressing Jennie's hands, still keeps eye contact*
Jennie: Go on, Lisa. Tell me. *sits closer to her*
Lisa: Listen to me carefully, hon. *deep sigh* I know your father. I have seen and worked with him several times on drug and other pro bono cases. My times with him were all about working with colleagues from the law firm and KIA. He was very hardworking, and I liked how passionate he was about his work. But yeah, he was a very secretive person, though. Now I understand why he did not talk about family or anything related. When I re-read the files Attorney park sent me, I only found out that you are his youngest daughter.
Jennie: I had that feeling that you know him, hon. Law firms are everywhere, and it's a small world for lawyers. *leans on Lisa, and now they are sitting side by side*
Lisa: I could not tell you at first when you went to my room that day. I am sorry. *leans on Jennie's head; they both face the colossal portrait of Jennie's parents hanging on the wall.*
Jennie: I understand. It's part of the job. *holds Lisa's hands again* Tell me more, hon.
Lisa: Yeah, there's more. I was there when your father was shot... *inhales profoundly and tries to feel the mood right after spilling it*
Jennie: What do you mean? *moves her head and looks at Lisa with a confused stare*
Lisa: I am always torn between being a lawyer and an elite agent of KIA. I always chose the first because I thought life would be easier, but it was not. When your father got caught running after the cartel, he got into a crossfire. The initial conclusion was that he got into the middle of a crossfire. Later on, we found out that it was planned, and he was part of the target aside from other KIA agents and lawyers involved in the case a year and a half ago.
Jennie: And? What do you mean by you were there??? *about to cry*
Lisa: I was a few blocks away when I heard the commotion. I was on my way to meeting a client that day. It was too late when I saw your dad lying on the floor. I am sorry. *stops herself from being emotional* The crossfire went on for minutes; I bet that was the loudest and longest minutes of my life. I tried to save your Dad, but there were so many of them. I could not fight back. There were also many people running around in the area. It was dangerous for everyone. *sighs* I saw the person who killed your dad. I know every line on his face and his reaction; I can still remember it here. *points at her temple* What I will never forget was his last words.
