XXXII: DESTRUO

So, this was to be our stage. A broken-down warehouse on the edge of the East End overlooking the sea, smelling of salt water and rust so strong you could almost taste it. It was eerily similar to the one I had been trapped in after being captured by Siwoo, but that memory wouldn't be enough to shake my confidence. Not today. Many of my friends around me were quiet, their expression sullen and discouraged. For them, I had to put on a tough face. They were putting their lives in my hands.

"There is a chance Siwoo will attempt to make an escape, so Jin will use his magic to keep him from running if it becomes necessary," Iseul explained. "It may not work entirely, but it should at least slow him down. Jungkook, you will need to start immediately."

"I understand," he nodded in response.

With my mother's final words of instruction, we were off. There was no time to waste, considering Siwoo would likely catch on to the massive aura of magic approaching him, even with Eunji using her abilities to conceal our presence. We surrounded the building in two groups- with Yonngi, Eunji, Jungkook, and I coming up from the back, and Jimin, Jin, Taehyung, and Iseul pushing through the front.

Everyone's eyes were wide as we entered and found Siwoo standing patiently in the center of the warehouse with a wicked smile plastered on his face. As if he was just waiting for us to arrive without a care in the world. Siwoo wasn't giving any indication that he had the intention to make a run for it, so Jin held off on issuing his command, preserving his energy.

"Took you long enough," Siwoo snickered. "I appreciate you coming all this way. I figured we could get this over with in one fell blow, so I am pleasantly surprised that you listened to the rumor of my whereabouts."

"I will give you one chance to turn yourself in to the council," Iseul spoke without moving.

"Ah! I remember you!" Siwoo's smile grew even larger as he approached her. "You were with that fiery woman that tried to kill me. Gods, I still remember her screams...so beautiful."

Iseul's lips twitched and a flash of rage flickered in her eyes, now appearing a brilliant gold. She took in a deep breath to calm down, returning to her usual calm demeanor before shouting a signal for us to begin. "Now!"

Jungkook wasted no time rushing towards Siwoo and letting his dark magic flow from his hands. It began to swirl around his arms, creeping all the way up his skin in a way I'd only ever seen once before, though even then, not to this extent. His eyes were glowing a stunning, bright purple. Siwoo turned to face Jungkook, his face twisting in anger as he felt the pressure of magic being forced against him. His magic manifested in a dull, grey color, as a thin cloud of smoke twisted through the air, his eyes lighting up in a silver hue. That was our cue to help.

"I'll kill every last one of them right before your eyes," Siwoo spat, glowering at Jungkook as he began to push back. "Starting with her." His attention had turned to me.

"You will fight with Jungkook and Jungkook alone." Jin's voice boomed through the warehouse. It was laced with his power, and Siwoo slowly turned his head back to Jungkook, shuddering as if he were fighting the urge to comply. Having to resort to using magic to hold Siwoo, Jin would no longer be able to channel his magic to Jungkook, but we had prepared for that possibility. That was why it was so important for me to hang on for as long as possible.

Jungkook's jaw clenched in pain as he faced off with Siwoo, using every ounce of energy to push back against his magic. I wanted nothing more than to run to his side to protect him, but I knew my best hope of doing so was to fulfill the task I'd been given. It couldn't have been more than a minute before Eunji fell to her knees, unable to offer any more of her power. Iseul had warned us that it would happen quickly, given just how much energy Jungkook needed to fight back, but it was still terrifying watching her tiny body drop to the ground.
