Ellie's PoV

After Carol did my hair, I finished up the usual routine. I remained in my blue scrubs (don't judge, I'm not perfect) and converse anf just washed my face. I also grabbed a gray hoodie from my dresser just in case I get cold and remained on the couch meditating my nerves.

Carol was sipping her coffee while watching me, "Just don't think about rushing. Just have fun and fall into his charm."

I let out a laugh, "Charm? No offense but it's more like smarty brains."

"And there's Ellie. She's back," Carol joked.

"Very funny. Now as for your math, x is a variable. It stands for another number."

"Good to know. I think I got it," Carol smiled as she started working out some math on her paper.

I soon opened my eyes at the right second as I heard a knock on the door.

I couldn't help but to smile grabbing my purse and standing up, "I'll see you. Don't wait up."

"I won't. Have fun though!" I heard Carol said before I went out the door.

When I closed it, I saw no other than Mark Greene smiling, "Hey!"

I smiled before trying to look what he had hidden behind his back, "Hi. What's the present?"

Mark smiled before giving me this tiny teddy bear, "I thought this would be better than flowers."

"This is sweet," I said taking the teddy bear, "I wouldn't take you as a teddy bear type of person."

"You don't?" Mark asked, "I thought I was."

I smiled before kissing his cheek, "Shall we get going?"

"We shall," he said gently taking ahold of my hand, "So I was thinking maybe the fair?"

"Ooh rides, prizes, and little kids running. Think we still got a little bit of youth in us?"

"One can only hope."

I smiled trying my best not to laugh as Mark tried to toss a baseball in the hole to win some prize.

"Mark, this is your third attempt."

"I'll get it this time."

"If you say so," I joked while sipping on some soda that we got while ago.

Soon after three minutes, he tossed the ball but then it hit a wall and came back on him.

I heard the painful ow before I dropped every thing to run over. "Are you okay? Let me see it."

He raised up before looking at me, "Why did I take off my glasses?"

I smiled, "At least I held them," I said putting them back over his eyes.

He just smiled before we looked into each other's eyes before someone spoke up.

"Well Markie, I see Rachel must have been right."

We both looked over to see another woman close to my age walking towards us.

"Jen?"

I looked over at him, "Just ignore her Mark," I said knowing how Jen can be. As she got close, I winced at the smell of alcohol coming from her breath.

She smiled just a little, "Ellie, Rachel always talks to Simon and I about you."

I just smiled, "I'm honored."

She just wrinkled her face before looking back at Mark, "Anyway Mark, I haven't received my check yet."

Mark just blinked at her, "I have never gave you no check Jen.

"Unless you've been stealing some money from your girlfriend."

I looked at her, "Mark has never stole money from me."

"How would you know, Honey?"

"Cause I've barely got any money to steal and second, he's sweet."

Mark smiled, "Well I'll just grab us some snacks, Ellie. Jen, it's nice seeing you," he said walking away from the discussion.

I look over at her, "What's your problem with him?"

Jen scoffs, "My problem? That workaholic never done anything for me."

"He's the one who tried to make you and Rachel happy. He even supported your dreams of being in law school!"

"Not like that mattered to him anyway. Just like it won't matter if I do this," she walked up before giving me the unexpected slap across my face.

I held my cheek in pain before doing the same thing to her, "You caused him a lot of pain. Now remember, if you hurt him again, be expecting a visit from me. Have a good night," I said walking away with a little smile on my face.

I soon caught up to Mark over by the pretzel stand smiling with two pretzels, "I got us two!" His smile soon dropped, "What happened to your cheek?"

"Jen just had a go slap at my face. No big deal."

Mark turned my face before looking at it, "Are you okay?"

I nod, "Now I am. Earlier I was panicking to Carol about how I thought we were rushing. I mean we've only known each other for two months."

Mark looks at me, "I know. Listen, you're a wonderful girl Ellie. And if I'm not the right guy for you, then maybe-"

I soon kissed him in order to stop him doubting himself before I pulled away. I smiled, "But this feels right. Let's take things slow. Just let things take their course, Dr. Greene."

He smiled before kissing my cheek, "I think that sounds like a good plan, Dr. Ellie."
