The house was filled with screaming and yelling once again, and your boyfriend wasn't backing down either. He was always yelling at you for the smallest things, shouting when you were clingy, he never really cared about how hurt you were by it. "I don't even know why I dated you in the first place." He said, and your heart shattered. Were you just a decision he now regrets?
A small sob escaped your lips, as you ran to your shared bedroom gathering your things. You wanted out. You couldn't do it anymore, it was horrible. He watched you pack up, an annoyed scowl on his face, "Where do you think you're going?"
"Anywhere away from you." You said, tears streaming down your face.
"You don't have anywhere to go." He laughed bitterly, "You'll end up crawling back to me like the little street rat you are."
You stayed quiet, suppressing a sob. You knew he was right, but you are not falling into this trap again. You'd rather live in a small apartment than with him. You walked out of the house, your belongings in a bag.Your sobs quieted to sniffles as the cars sped past you, standing before the house. Was it a good idea? Not really but, you were determined you let him know you could live without him. You crossed the road, checking your phone for the nearest hotel. Your gaze shifted from your phone to a kitten trying to walk past the speeding cars and... it wasn't doing so well. Before you could stop, you ran toward the middle of the road, holding the feline in your arms and taking it toward the sidewalk corner. You gathered your belongings and when you looked back, the cat was gone.
You tried to look around but it was nowhere to be found. Almost an hour later, you found yourself following the same stray cat, the feline leading you to an abandoned amusement park. And surprisingly... the gates were partially open enough for you to slip through. You walked inside, looking around at the area quietly. The feline ran past you and you found yourself stopping so as to not step on it. A strong gush of wind hit your face, messing up your hair as soon as you turned around to leave. However, the gates were now closed and you had no other option but to turn around and explore for a while.
You let out a small shriek, seeing a tall man in front of you, wearing a long black coat and a magician's hat.
"The amusement park is closed. But I don't mind an audience." He asked, his sharp gaze fixated on your shorter figure. He stepped closer, looking at the slight fear in your eyes before he chuckled quietly. "I'm Yunho. A magician at this amusement park."
You tilted your head slightly. "A magician," you repeated, a hint of surprise in your tone. When you saw him nod, you were confused and trying to hold back your laugh. "Sorry—" you suppressed a laugh, "I'm Y/N."
His smile faded quickly, replaced by a look of disappointment, "You think I'm being childish," he mumbled.
Your eyes widened, "No, no, of course not. I think you're... uhm..."The magician stood there for a moment, contemplating whether you were worthy of his magic or not. "Alright. Watch," he said, taking off his hat and showing the inside to you. "It's empty, feel it."
You reached out reluctantly, feeling the soft velvet fabric inside. Other than that, it was empty. As soon as you moved your hand away, he pulled a red cloth from within the hat, placing it on top of it, covering the hollow opening completely. "The cloth is empty, don't worry," he said. "Should I let you feel that as well?" he laughed softly, a small smile creeping up your lips. You shook your head as he quickly snapped a finger, the cloth lifting itself, before revealing a white dove, skaing the cloth off itself and flying away.
An unintentionally loud, 'Huh?' escaped your lips as you looked inside the hat again. Another laugh escaped his lips before he smiled at you, "Still don't believe me? I have more—"
"No, this was... How'd you do that?"
"Magic!" he wiggled his eyebrows mischieviously. You ended up laughing a lot that night. Yunho was sweet, he was funny, and he managed to read your mind a lot. He offered you a room in the amusement park, free of charge, which felt awfully suspicious. He showed you the room with a window that could be locked and with bullet-proof glass. The door had a lock which wouldn't budge if someone tried to lockpick inside. And the interior... it was lovely. A nice bed for one, a couch, curtains covering the windows, it was incredible for a room that was free. Yunho seemed trust-worthy but you culdn't just... "Is the room nice?" Yunho smiled, leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed and raising an eyebrow.
"It's amazing but..."
"You can't trust a stanger, I know. You can lock the doors, the window, whatever. I live at the other side of the amusement park, I don't come here usually. But obviously, that's not convincing, what do I do?" he pretended to think for a moment. "Should I put a spell on you into trusting me?" he laughed.
"You know, in other words, that could be called manipu—"
"Don't finish that. The amusement park is a family-friendly place and not... you know what I'm saying."
You laughed quietly, nodding. You ended up blindly trusting him, since you had nowhere to go anyway. That night, you slept like a baby. It was so quiet, so peaceful. Quite different from... previous places.
The next morning, you were awaken with the sweet smell of syrup on pancakes. You got up quickly and walked out of the room to see Yunho waiting for you with a plate of fresh pancakes. "Hey! I was waiting for you to wake up. My friend just dropped by with pancakes. I was gonna bring these to your room so you'd have them as soon as you woke up but..." he shrugged. "They're still warm, though, come on."
You sat down quietly, as he put the plate in front of you. "They look good."
"Taste as good, too," he said, a small smile on his lips. "Oh, my apologies, I forgot to ask. Butter?" he reached out for the little cloth on the table, which was lying flat, until he lifted it, a stick of butter lying under it— "Strawberries?" he put the cloth on his palm, lifting it again, four strawberries resting on his palm— "Oh, whipped cream—" he patted down his magician's coat, and it looked pretty empty until he pulled out a can of whipped cream.
Your eyes widened, "Huh?"
And he just laughed quietly, "Sorry, sorry. Didn't mean to surprise you. Keep eating."Yunho was right. The pancakes were scrumptious, but you couldn't help but think back to whatever tricks those were. You glanced at the time, as you jumped from your seat, "Yunho, I am beyond grateful and all but I have to go," you said, quickly rushing to your room to get ready.
Yunho watched in confusion, "What?" he tilted his head.
"I need to go to work!"
His mouth formed a small 'o' as he nodded and watched you run off to your room to get ready. He checked the time and wondered if you were late. "Probably is," he mumbled to himself, sitting back, "why else would she be running around...?"
Hewatched as you paced around the room, looking for your things, as a small smilecrept up his lips. "Flusted and rushing around looking like a mess. How cute," he mumbled.Time skips: 2 months
Your bond grew with him. And so did your feelings. Two months with a stranger weren't exactly how they felt. It was like you knew and you both were meant to be.It was the weekend and you both planned to see a movie after that you both went stargazing at the amusement park where you both lived.
You wanted it to go great because you wanted to confess tonight. You wanted it to be special. "Y/N-ahhh! Are you ready?" He asked. You nodded and smiled. He found your smile the best feature of you.
The movie was good but stargazing was now awaiting. You were hesitant to ask him but it was worth a try. "The stars are beautiful tonight, aren't they?" He nods. You stare at him with an unfamiliar feeling but you got déjà vù. Why?
"Hey Yunho. Can I ask you something?" You ask.
"Go on." He says with his smile. The smile that still gave you butterflies.
"I know this is weird but Jeong Yunho, I like you and I'm serious. I can't control this feeling and it keeps luring me in no matter how hard I try to avoid it," you say in one breath."That's the thing about first love. No matter how hard you try to ignore that person. You can't. The feeling of love can never be ignored, Y/N. I know I'm not your first but you are. I like you too."
Yunho never fell in love before? It might be weird for him. He leans in and kisses you softly, putting a hand on your cheek. "I used magic on you. You were always under my spell, Y/N."
You chuckle at his statement."I guess I was under your spell."
