Alicia's P.O.V
"What's wrong Dallas?" I asked as we sat in the living room. He just shook his head. I just stared at him trying to read his face. He's been acting like this for days. I don't know why but he is. He can't even look me in the eye.
"Well smile baby." I said. He looked over at me and pulled on a fake smile. I just pretended to go along with it.
"Okay. Well my parents are coming over so we can go out and eat. Today I think I'm going to officially tell my mom that I am with baby." I said. He whispered something under his breath. I just looked over at him and shook my head. Whatever he said I just knew it was about my mother. I got up and walked into our bedroom. As I walked in I seen his phone on the bed. I saw the phone ringing. I walked over and answered it for him.
"Hello, this is Dallas Knight." I said. There was some shuffling.
"Hello? I thought this was the personal line." A female's voice said in a very confused tone.
"This is, I'm Alicia." I spoke. The females began to cough.
"Ma'am are you okay?" I asked.
"HMM! Yes, I'm fine. I'm fine." She said.
"Can you please tell Mr. Knight to call me." She said.
"Um. Okay. I will. What's your name?" I asked.
"Ahriel, Ahriel Bennett." She said. The name seemed familiar but it truly didn't ring a bell.
"Well okay, miss Bennett. I'll let him know you called." I said as I hung the phone up.
"Who was that baby?" Dallas asked walking in. I looked over at him and shrugged before answering.
"Some lady named Ahriel Bennett." I said, his whole face changed. He looked as if he were happy. He grabbed his phone from me. I looked at him as if he were crazy.
"WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL ME?" he yelled. I stepped back and shook my head.
"Well I'm sorry I didn't know, I could call you on your cell phone when I'm on your cell phone." I said holding my arms up in defense. He chuckled as he looked to the ground.
"No Alicia." He said making me look at him confused.
"Why didn't you come and get me?" He corrected himself. I shrugged my shoulders. That would've been very smart.
"I don't know. I guess was a little distracted. So who's this Ahriel? Is she like a new publisher or something?" I asked. He looked as of he couldn't answer. Well to be even more exact he looked as if he was constipated.
"Well no, she's um...kind of-" the doorbell rang interrupting him. His posture fixed and he pointed to the door as he ran to go and get it. I was when I heard my mother's voice I knew there would be some tension in the room.
"Hello Alicia." My mother said not making eye contact. My dad pulled me into a warm comforting hug. He kissed my forehead as he usually does but something was totally off.
"Dad, are you okay?" I asked as I eyed my mom too. She's always been the one to have the last say while my dad just said what was on his mind.
"He's fine come on and let's go eat." My mother said. I just nodded and grabbed my father's hand. I pulled him out the house and he pulled me to the side of the house.
"Sweetie, I have something to tell you." My dad spoke in a whisper. I stood there nodding.
"Okay." I said. He looked down as if he was nervous.
