"Can you make some copies of these for me please?" I asked my assistant. She nodded. I went back into my office and looked over to the picture of Alicia I had on my desk. I smiled knowing that I finally had a picture for the damn frame and that it was definitely someone I love.
"SON!" I heard my mom yell in my face whilst waving her hand in my face. I jumped back and looked at her in fear.
"I'm sorry how long have I been day-dreaming?" I asked she shrugged.
"I don't know baby I just got here." She said as she sat down, in one of my chairs. I shook my head.
"Yes, mother?" I asked her. She smiled.
"Okay you know, I feel we should tell Alicia's mother that she's going to be a Grandmother through me." She said. I shook my head.
"Nope. Alicia wants to tell her after we get married." I said.
"Why?" She asked. I looked at her and looked down.
"She might not notice it, but she's still looking for her mother's approval." I said. My mother crossed her legs and frowned.
"Poor baby." She said. I nodded in agreement. Even though Alicia and I were on good terms with her mother doesn't mean my first impression of her doesn't linger in my mind. Alicia's mom was and still is an out of order control freak. She loves to diminish people's egos to empower her own and I want to know why. And the only way I can is if I get to know her better. And that I'm not excited to do.
"Well, have you told her great aunt?" My mom asked. I looked up to my mom and smiled. My mother gave me a great idea. I got approval from Alicia's father and Kaila but I forgot the one woman who Alicia loved as if that were her mother.
Aunt Maybelle
"Mom, no I haven't. Would you like to come with me and tell her?" I asked. My mother smiled.
"Son, I would love to meet more of Alicia's family members as long as it isn't that cold hearted, vile, demonic soul of a woman." My mother said, as she grabbed her purse off my desk. She walked out and I was right behind her.
"I'll be leaving early. If Alicia calls please tell her I'm out. And to call me on my cellbfor anything." I said to my assistant. She nodded. And I walked out to see my mom already sitting in her car. I hopped in mine and led the way to Aunt Maybelle's house. It was quite a drive. Shit I was falling asleep around the wheel. If Alicia hadn't called me, I probably would've crashed. Thank God for my cars Bluetooth.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Hey babe, Why aren't you at your office?" She asked.
"I had to do something important with my mother." I said.
"Oh, let her know, I said hello and me and the baby are eating all of the food she's been sending." She said. I laughed. .
"I'll tell her to stop." I said.
"Why? I like food. The baby needs food. There's no need for her to stop. Why would you try to do us like that?" She said as if she was going to have a total panic attack. I chuckled.
"Calm down, babe I would never try to do anything remotely close to that to you." I said in a defensive tone. I looked over at the sign indicating that I have reached my destination. As soon as I pulled up I noticed a very familiar car.
"You promise?" She asked with humor lacing her voice. I smiled as if she could see me.
"Yes, baby I promise. Alicia I got to go." I said.
