MYSTIC [Part I]

CHAPTER :- 18

"Mom, let me do it"

"Okay.......Fine"

She chuckles and sits on the dining table, watching him cook breakfast. Prem comes out from the other  room.

"Let me help you"

"Stay away. Months after I have got a chance to cook, just sit there, let me serve for you today "

Prem quietly sits on the chair.

"Boun....... why don't you go hangout somewhere? You've only been in the house or the shop since you came"

"It's only been three or four days mom and....... Why would I go somewhere else, when you are here"

"Oww my baby, you've grown so much. You're gonna make me cry" she wipes her imaginary tears.

Boun laughs "Yeah... Whatever"

"Hey, but seriously, atleast think about Prem, he must be getting bored here all the day"

That's when Boun's ears perked up.

"No mam, there's nothing....."

"You're right mom. I am sorry Prem, I was being selfish"

"No, please don't.. "

"Yes, it's decided, we are going out today"

Prem can't win from him and agrees to go.

"Take my car"

"Thanks mom. We'll be back before 10"

"Drive safely. Bye"

"Bye mom"

Boun is driving the car. He hasn't told Prem where they are going.

"Boun where are we headed to? "

"It's not actually a great place but there's a lot of beautiful places to see on the way to our destination"

Boun parks the car at a resort. They eat something there, as it is lunch time. Then they again hit the road. The road is covered by the shadow of trees. Boun slows down the car to enjoy the cool wind.
After a few hours of driving, Boun parks the car under a tree.

"It's just a few minutes walk away from here"

They start walking into the forest.
After thirty minutes of walking frequently, Boun sits down on the ground.

"Boun.......why does it seem like you don't know the way ? We have walked from this spot once"

"Uh......Don't worry, trust me I know where we are " he says looking around nervously.

"Alright.... but....... I don't see anyone here. Why don't you check that place from the above? "

Boun realizes........ he forgot he can fly. He is embarrassed to admit it.

"Yeah.......I just wanted to...... take a walk. It's good for health, isn't it? "
He says, hiding his gullibility.

Prem smiles coyly ".......... Right....... "

"Hey..............forget it. Don't tell anyone about this"

Then he flies up and finds the spot he was looking for.

"Prem! Come here! It's this way" he shouts from above.

Prem flies to him, Boun leads him to a river. Once they set their feet on the ground, Boun runs to the riverbank. Prem walks after him, smiling fondly.

"This is where I went for camping when I was in high school........ and...... It's that river....."

".....the place where you were testing your powers"

Boun laughs, recalling the memory.

They sit there for a while and it's starting to get dark now.

An idea strikes Prem's mind. "Before we go back, you want to see something? "

"Yea....sure"

Prem stands up and goes near the water and makes a stream in the air. He moves the water high in the sky. He makes a big sphere of it then makes it burst in the air. The water scatters into millions of small drops in the air. The drops shine like stars by the light of the setting sun.

Boun looks above ,mesmerised , until................ a fish falls on his head with a little bit of water which made his hair wet. The fish then falls into the river again. Boun blinks for a few times.

Prem looks at him , straight-faced, trying hard not to laugh.

"Sorr.... "

Boun cuts him off "...It's fine Prem........ " He smiles and stands up ".......... but I guess you should run now"

Prem is confused hearing it but then he sees Boun moving his hands and a large stream of water starting to rise from the river.

Prem starts to run. Boun follows up behind him with the water stream , them giggling like kids.

They reach home around 11. Prem opens the door and sees nothing but darkness in the living room.

"We called her just a minute ago. She sounded all awake"

"She might be sleeping"

"Yeah... Maybe" Boun says.

The lights flicker open.

"Happy birthday to you~" his mom comes with a cake in her hands.

"Mom, what's this, is it my birthday today? " he says in surprise.

" It was last week"

Boun  walks and hugs her. "Thanks mom"

"His birthday? " Prem  confusedly asks.

"Um......actually, it's the day he came into my life, I celebrate that day as his birthday"

Boun cuts the cake and feeds his mom and Prem with his hand.

"So, is this why you were forcing me to go outside? "

"I couldn't have made this cake if you were here? "

"Mom.... You got me this time"

She chuckles "Go sleep now, you must be tired boys"

"Hmm..... Good night mom"

They go to their rooms. As Prem opens the door, he sees Muffle on the table. He closes the door.

"Muffle..... do I have a message? "

Muffle gives him a small piece of  paper, which says :

'You could come back now'

Prem sighs in relief.

Next morning, Prem tells Boun about going back. They decide on leaving from here in the afternoon so they'll reach Illumina before it's late night.
