The pillow beneath me was way too warm and too hard. I grunted and tried to fluff up the pillow. It felt smooth to the touch and gave me an excited feeling. My eyes sprang open when I felt a heartbeat beneath me.

I was laying on Jaxon's chest completely on him and his arms were around me. I looked up to look at his face, which lucky for me he was still asleep. His black hair gently covered his forehead and a bit of his eyes. I never noticed how long the front of his hair was, it was always pushed back. His face was content too like he was having a good dream and his thick, black eyelashes were long and curled. His lips were pink and plump and I had this urge to trace them with my fingers. The grip on my waist was strong with one of his hands dangerously close to my butt. His robe was opened at his chest and I could see the faint outline of his rock hard abs.

"If you're going to check me out at least keep your mind link not opened." I looked up at him, eyes still closed but his lips curling into a smirk.

I quickly got up and fixed my robe. "I was not checking you out." I said sternly, trying not to show him how embarrassed I was.

"Oh yeah, and what were you doing then?" I could hear him move from the bed and felt his presences behind me.

My face was flushed red and I was trying to think of same lame excuse when something hit the sliding glass door hard enough to make us both jump.

In an instant Jaxon was pulling the curtains to the side to see that it was just a small road sign that hit our window from the wind. The rain was still pouring down and the wind heavy as it shoved everything in its way. "It looks worse out. I think we'll be here another day at least." Jaxon said turning around to face me.

Something in the woods though caught my attention and I drowned out whatever he was saying to me. Small red eyes looked back at me and I could see them moving closer then the smell hit me. Rouges.

"Hey, I know you don't seem to like me much but at least acknowledge that I asked you a question." Jaxon teased pretending to sound hurt, pulling me out of my thoughts.

I looked at him briefly then back to the red eyes. "There's a rogue just outside in the trees, it's been watching us."

I could see him turn around as I kept my eyes forward and look out the window. His body stiffened when he saw the red eyes. "They're too close to everyone for my liking. Get dressed and see to it that everyone is okay." Jaxon commanded, not taking his eyes off from those red ones. I grabbed my stuff and changed quickly into my blue skinny jeans and grey t-shirt. I laced up my heeled boots and put on my leather hooded jacket. I reached for the door when his voice rang out. "Oh, and Lucille, keep the mind link open."

I nodded knowing he couldn't see me and I opened the front door to a scary sight in front of me. Trees were down everywhere and so were powerlines. Luckily my car was safe but other cars weren't so lucky. I quickly started knocking on doors checking to make sure everyone was okay. There was four other doors on our side and each one opened to reveal a family safe and sound. I headed up to the other side and started knocking and everyone was okay. I started to head back when a creak of wood stopped me in my tracks. I whipped around to see a large oak tree coming down on the section of rooms I just checked.

I sprang into action calling upon my wolf to lend me her strength. I dived under the tree and caught it pushing it above my head but I could feel the weight of it pushing down on me as the wind picked up. "Jaxon!" I called out. "There's a tree that is coming down on the other side of the motel, I need help, people are in danger."

I heard no reply back so I just kept repeating myself as I could feel my arms start to shake a bit under the weight. "Jaxon!" I screamed out hoping he'd hear but the wind took my voice and carried it away. I heard a twig snap by me and I turned hoping it would be Jaxon but what I saw wasn't Jaxon. It was a boy who could be no more than thirteen wearing rags and smelling horrible. He was dirty and wet and I could see his bones pushing sharp against his skin. "You shouldn't be out here. Go to the office and take shelter, it's not safe! Where are your parents?" I yelled, hoping he'd hear me.

He stood there with no expression on his face but he then replaced it with a creepy smile. His body began twitch and his eyes glowed red. Rogue. He started to shift and I panicked, knowing if I shifted I couldn't keep the tree from falling on part of the motel and if I didn't shift, I'd be ripped to pieces. I tried the mind link again but Jaxon didn't reply which worried me.

The boy shifted in a skinny and snarling wolf. He started coming behind me knowing I couldn't follow without letting the tree fall down. My arms were shaking more with the weight of the tree and the weight of my impending death coming down on me. I screamed in frustration making the rogue wolf make a happy noise. Oh god, I thought, this is it.

The wolf went behind me and I braced myself for a painful end but it didn't come. I heard a whimper and saw the wolf back up. I looked over to my right to see a large black wolf stalking towards the boy. "When I say go I want you to try with all your might to throw the tree to your left, I'll help, but after that I need you to clear everyone out of the buildings and get them out of here. They've already murdered someone." Jaxon's voice filled my head. Murdered? I checked on everyone and no one said anything about someone missing. "It was the lady from the office. She was alone so they targeted her. Get ready to throw! Three... Two... One... Throw!"

I pushed the tree up as far as I could and then moved my body to get better leverage to shove the tree to my left. Jaxon flew over me and pushed the tree from my hands with his back feet, the tree narrowly escaping the building, as Jaxon took off chasing the young boy off into the woods. I quickly ran banging on doors telling people to get their stuff and leave. Parents rushed out confused and startled.

I could hear Jaxon's voice behind me calming people down as he explained the situation without the mentioning the wolves part. People were hurriedly packing and rushing kids out into their cars. I was helping others get their kids in the car while keeping them calm while they struggled with their belongings. "It's okay sweetie," I pulled the seatbelt across a young girl who was crying for her parents, "your mommy and daddy will be out in a second." I grabbed a colouring book from the pocket seat and some crayons. She gladly accepted and I closed the door behind her when she stopped crying and helped the parents put the luggage into the car.

"Lucille!" Jaxon called. I looked behind to see him shoving our bags into the car. "We got to go, before the weather gets worse." I nodded and helped load the last bag into the family's car and then jogged over to Jaxon. He opened the passenger door and I climbed in. He quickly ran around to the drivers side and hopped in. He adjusted the seat and sped out of the parking lot. "There was a ton of rogues, and I could smell more. We couldn't beat them and keep everyone safe."

Some time went by and we were headed down the road we came on when I brought up the question I've been wondering for awhile. "Why didn't you come when I mind linked you?"

"Because you didn't. I was chasing the rogue we saw behind our room and I mind linked you and when I heard nothing back I worried. I circled back that's when I saw you holding up the tree while that rogue stalked you."

"Weird. It doesn't make any sense." Jaxon shrugged and continued to focus on driving as the rain pushed down on the car. Why couldn't we hear each other? We could hear each other when we were close together but not apart. Was something blocking our mind link or was it just me not being strong enough with my wolf. I'll have to bring it up to Aunt Tay, she might be able to help figure it out.

"Get some sleep, and stop worrying. Hearing you worry is stressing me out." Jaxon said. I rolled my eyes and looked out the window. "Get some sleep, you look tired from holding that tree up." He patted my arm and eventually sleep overcame me.
