Fandoms, fandoms, fandoms! The epitome of "the bad, the ugly, and the good." Fan fictions generally go by the same principle.
I think fandoms and fanfictions have three categories of people/ffs:
The Bad: Hasn't read the book/manga/etc. the movie (or book/manga!) is based off of. They usually act like they know basically everything even though they don't, and they're just pretty horrific. While you can occasionally and sparingly find a gem of a person/fanfiction based solely off of the movie, the majority of them are terrible. This can exclude anime under some circumstances, as a lot of anime-only are pretty chill.
The Ugly: The type of people who stink. Like, really bad. The type who has greasy, uncombed hair. The type who doesn't use deodorant because "B/O is natural!" Yea, it is, but no one wants to fucking smell that shit. To sum it up, it makes up a good portion of most anime fandoms. I'm talking the type who ship weird ass ships, like Overhaul X Eri, and who romanticise abuse and bullying. Most of them are 30 something YO's who have discord kittens and shit and have crushes on 14 year old girls....
The Good: This will be quite short. They ship understandable, normal, and sensible pairings that you can usually see happening. And if you can see it happening, most times it's not pedophilia and genuinely a decent ship. Out of ship talk, IRL they're also chill peeps.
