A glimpse of pain was seen in both of Leo's eyes but Lisa was quick to pretend it didn't bother her and she sighed, annoyed. Why must she hear those lines?
"Well, I gotta get going now, crack head! You're just wasting my time!"
When Lisa took a step forward, Leo was quick to stand in her way. She raised her head and glared. A corner of his mouth was lifted and he looked so proud. It makes her wonder why the heck he is being difficult.
"I didn't drag you here for nothing," he said, crossing his arms. "I'm inviting you for a walk down the lake. Mind coming with me?"
This time, Lisa was all confused. He said he escaped and he won't answer from where and whom. Then he suddenly acted like it was her fault that she was running with him to this shop and now he is inviting her for a walk down the lake?
"No." She tried pushing him aside but he wouldn't budge so she stepped back. The blood in her veins was starting to boil and she bit her lower lip to control herself. "I swear I am going to scream that you're harassing me."
She gave it a few seconds to see if he would step aside but Leo did not. There was no one even going in their aisle which makes it harder for her. Of course, she didn't want a scene.
"I thought you were going to scream?" he teased. That proud smile plastered on his mouth. "I'll tell you what I escaped from if you come with me. I swear I'm not going to hold you without permission anymore."
That doesn't reassure her but she nodded anyway.
There were trees surrounding the path to the lake so it's never really that hot. However, if you're wearing a hoodie like Leo is, it sure still is hot regardless of the wind and trees.
They were both quiet with their walk, just observing people from their surroundings. Most of them were couples enjoying the walk or having a picnic under the shade of a tree. Some were just talking and holding hands on the bench, overlooking the lake.
Lots of people, Lisa thought to herself, happy people.
"You've been keeping that expression since earlier. Does the lake brings you a disgusting memory?" Leo finally broke the silence between them.
"No. I just hate seeing people so happy," she answers. That made her think of why she came here with him. "So, what did you escape from?"
"Well...just a friend." She glanced at him and saw his face so relaxed. "He has been with me since... I don't even remember but yeah, he is great. Just that, at times like this, I want to escape him."
Just like I want to escape my life, Lisa wanted to say but she couldn't and remained silent. There's actually a lot she wants to whine about but Leo is not her friend.
"Keifer. He wanted to say thank you and wanted to send his regards to you. I was not able to say that during the festival. I was worked up."
There was hesitation in her voice and she didn't even look at him. Then came his sudden chortle that made her look his way. His marble eyes were locked on hers.
"What are you laughing at?"
"Nothing," he quickly replied but a hint of smirk remained on his mouth. "You're still bothered tho. Let's ride one of the pedalboats."
"I'd rather not," she declines. She doesn't know how to swim and plus she really thinks those things are for kids. It's not fun. "Only lovers do that."
Leo's laugh gusts like the wind, making her brows stick together. Now, what's so funny about what she said? He always makes fun of her and it's annoying.
