Luna: The Moon Goddess

Previously: "You will be punished for you actions and that's final!" my father finished. "Don't let her get away again!" I heard my dad yell with force. I began running towards the dorm rooms as the siren suddenly began ringing, making the halls flash red by the light. I began towards Sarah's room. "Come on!" I shouted uselessly at my bike as I noticed the gates close trapping us in. Just as there was fraction of space left, we squeezed through the small gate entrance and were off of the property. I tried to straighten myself, but suddenly up seemed like down and I fell to the ground. "No! Luna!" I heard Sarah yell as she ran towards me. "What do we do know?" Sarah asked her. "We wait until she can move again," Martha answered simply, her voice still filled with disappointment. Well, I guess I'll have a lot of explaining to do...

Chapter 8

I must've dosed off while waiting for my body to retrieve its full strength because when I woke up, I was able to stretch. I heard the television on before I even opened my eyes to find everyone watching it.

Sarah and Travis were sitting on the couch facing the t.v. as Martha was sitting in the recliner chair. When they all noticed me moving, the television was immediately turned off.

"Luna dear, how are you feeling?" Martha asked me as I moved into a sitting position. My muscled cracked from being in the same position for so long and I stretched until I couldn't anymore.

"Just peachy," I mutter, more to myself than to her.

I looked over to Sarah and she sent me a shy smile, which I returned. "Are you okay?" I asked her, knowing how uncomfortable it can be in a house full of strangers; hmm, the mansion felt like that every time dad found new people to join.

She giggled and shook her head. "You're the one who just woke up from a coma and you're asking me if I'm okay?" she questioned. I furrowed my eyebrows, guessing she's feeling peachy as well. I took off the leather gloves I was still wearing as Martha began talking again.

"So, would you like to explain why you drained your powers?" she asked me as I placed my gloves into my jacket pocket.

I glanced up to Sarah and noticed her fidget in her seat on the couch. My eyes lingered from her to Travis, who was surprising quiet as he waited for my response. I sighed and then began to take off my jacket. "Because I didn't have a choice..." I trailed off and looked towards Sarah again. "If I hadn't come, he would've sent you on the Tony Grawl mission," I told her.

Her eye grew big with disbelief as her jaw dropped. Yes, everyone at the mansion knew about that mission and how it was basically suicidal. We also know that we can't turn it down if assigned to it, so everyone would hope and pray that they didn't get it.

A small gasp escaped her mouth as she looked at me, still in shock. "That's what he was saying on the phone?" Travis asked, speaking for the first time as I removed my jacket and placed it on the couch next to me.

I nodded before raking my fingers through my hair and leaning forward, placing my elbows on my knees. Gosh, I feel so tired and exhausted. Just one more day after this...and I'll have my full strength, one hundred percent. "So that was what, a rescue mission or something?" Travis asked, his voice seeming incredulous and sarcastic. There he goes; I was wondering when he'd show his true colors.
