Luna: The Moon Goddess
Previously: Seriously, I'm not here to make friends. There's no point in becoming friends with the students here, just to get them tangled up in my already complicated life. And plus, this is the only day I'm going to be here, since I'm leaving tonight after the full moon rises and I get my full powers. "Hannah thinks I'll start liking Luna," Travis answered, speaking as if it's the most bizarre reason in the world. "What?! Is that a smile I see on your face? You should do that more often," Travis mumbled. "You know that I have no intentions on staying after today," I stated my question. I see Travis' eyebrows crinkle together, a look of confusion on his face as he slightly tilted his head. "I suspected so," Martha said. "Grandma, aren't you a bit worried that something bad might happen to her?" Travis questioned. "Yes, I would rather her stay here, where she is safe. But at the same time, I cannot force her to do anything she doesn't want to do. Like I said...stubborn," Martha informed her grandson.
Chapter 11
I look out the window as the sun is setting. Now is the time. I have to make it to an open area. I must leave...and now. I can see flashlights moving throughout the yards of the surrounding houses. Men hired by my father. Due to the light being off in the room I'm currently in, those outside can't see me standing in the window.
They don't know that I see them, looking for me...waiting for me. "I wonder how many are out there," Sarah states. She's standing next to me, looking out the window as well. That's a good question. I estimated about a dozen.
"About a dozen...give or take," I tell her. Sarah sighs sadly. She knows this is it. She knows this may be the last time we ever see each other.
"Do you really have to go? Do you really have to go through with your plan? What if something horrible happens to you? I don't know what I'll do without you," Sarah says, her voice cracking a little towards the end. I turn to her. Due to being in the dark for a while now, my eyes have adjusted to it, causing me to see most things.
"Don't think like that," I instruct her. I can't let her think negatively about my plan, then she'll send nothing but bad energy my way. "Everything will be fine," I persuade her, although I'm trying to convince myself as well.
The truth is I don't know what will happen. I know what I want to happen; my father's empire being destroyed. I grabbed her hands in mine. "Sarah, look at me," I tell her and she does reluctantly. "While I'm gone, I want you to continue living your life to the fullest. I want you to experience life as a normal, regular teenager. You'll be in good hands here with Martha. She'll look after you," I inform her.
I look at her now tear stained face before pulling her into a comforting hug. When she's calmed down, I let her go. She wipes her tears away with the back of her hands. "Promise you'll come back?" she asked with hope hanging in her voice. I sighed mentally. I don't like making promising I'm not sure I'll be about to keep.
So instead of answering her, I give her a reassuring smile. She smiles back before looking over my shoulder. "You should probably go before it's time," she lets me know what time it is. I grab my bag and place the straps on my shoulder before walking out of the bedroom, leaving Sarah.
I silently make my way down the hall. I stop outside of Martha's room and listen. I hear soft snores from the other side of the door. I continue walking and stop outside of Travis' door. I don't hear anything. I shrug and finish walking down the hall until I make it to the stairs.
Once downstairs I head to the kitchen, only to find Travis sitting at the island table, eating a sandwich and messing with his phone. I sighed, off course he's down here. When he hears my sigh, he looks up. He quickly swallows the food in his mouth, causing his Adam's apple to bob up and down.
