Chapter 16
"Isn't it obvious? I want you to come to my side. I want you to help me take your father's corporation down," Tony Grawl replies as if it's as simple as it gets.
I almost giggled. Almost.
"You're not serious," I state as I give him a skeptical stare. Does he actually think I will side with him? After everything he's put me and my father through.
"I'm very serious," he replies as he places his hands together on top of his desk.
"No," I state firmly; no explanation, no excuse. There's no way I'm getting myself involved with this man. He's just as bad as my father, if not worst. Tony looks relaxed, as if he knew I'd say no. Then why ask?
I stand from my seat, realizing that coming here was a waste of time. I turned my back and began towards the door. It wasn't surprising to see that Travis hadn't gotten up. Of course he wouldn't. He just met his father whom he presumed dead all these years, I'm sure there's more questions churning around in his head. Besides, it'll be a good thing if he stays behind, one less person I'll have to look after.
"Don't be a fool, Luna. You need my help. My protection. Frederick will not stop hunting for you. Doesn't he already have a dead or alive mission out on you?" Tony called out. I slowly turned around to face him.
"Let's be clear; you came looking for me. It's you that needs my help in taking my father down. Not me. I don't need anything from you. Especially not after everything you've done to my family," I correct him. The entire time I was speaking, he looked more and more impressed. It wasn't until my last statement that the proud glint in his eyes was replaced with something. Something else.
"If you're referring to—"
"There's no if. I'm completely referring to what you did to my mother," I correct yet again. It's in this moment that Travis finally speaks again.
"What did you do to her mom?" he ask his father suspicious. Tony looks to his son, before moving his eyes back to me. I stand still, waiting for him to reply to his son's question. Let's see you get out of this one.
"Luna. What happened to Binara was a complete misunderstanding. Those men were not supposed to...do what they did. That was not my orders," he tries to explain. I shake my head, letting him know I don't believe him for one second.
"Misunderstanding? What they did was more than a simple misunderstanding," I spat back at him. Just thinking of that night makes my blood boil hotter than the sun. And I'm sure he sees it on my face, because I see his hand slightly move cautiously below his desk. I scoff at his action. Whatever he has hidden under there won't be able to touch me, not even bullets.
"I'm speaking the truth. Hurting her was not their mission. And trust me, they paid for their sins," Tony explained.
"Oh, I know they did. I'm the one that killed them, remember?" I reply. By now, Travis seemed to have caught on. He hastily stood from his seat, his back to me.
"You killed her mom?" he shouts in shock. "What happened to being friends since high school? Did those years mean nothing to you?" he threw at his father. Tony slammed his fist on the desk, losing his temper.
"I did not kill Binara!" he shouts as he stood from his chair. Due to the loudness of his voice, the door swung open, revealing the two men whom were in here earlier. Clearly, they were standing guard outside the door, listening for signs of danger. Their eyes scanned the room.
Seeing the anger on their boss' face, they quickly reached toward me in attempt to manhandle me. I stood my ground, not scared, not even a little. I can take them both down easily.
