Previously: Luna learns that it wasn't in the plans for her mother to be murdered. Tony did not give the order for his soldiers to kill Binara. He then offers them a room, and Travis takes it. Travis convinced Luna into staying the night as well. She's hesitant, but agrees.
Chapter 17
"Here's your room," one of the men that we were following, Tank, announced before opening the door. He steps to the side and ushers us in. Travis steps in first and I shortly after. The room isn't anything special, it just put me in the mind of fall season. The color schemes were varied between orange, brown, yellow, and read. It did well decorating the small area.
Two twin beds had had a wall of their own across from each other. Only a window and bedside table separated them. On the table, was an alarm clock; it wasn't digital, and it had the two bells on top. I walk across the room, to the only window and glance out. The sun is still high in the sky, lighting up the city. I must admit, the view is enticing sight. Trees, birds, and others took over the entire lot. I can only assume we're facing the back of the building. I sigh, but not from exhaustion. My sigh is because I'm still not sure about staying here. My sigh is because I have to figure out what to do with myself come tomorrow morning, when I leave.
I feel a presence beside me; Travis. He stands next to me and gazes out the window as well.
"We can stay the night, get rested, eat, and then head out in the morning, bright and early," he informs me, causing me to look at him in confusion. Who put him in charge? Oh, that's right...I did. I did as soon as I agreed to stay.
"It'll be best if you stayed, or better yet, go back home. I'm sure Martha is worried sick about you," I suggest while watching two squirrels chase each other. I faintly heard the door signaling that the two gentlemen that led us here have left.
"My Grandma is fine. She gave me an earful earlier, but then she just told me to be careful and come home in time for dinner tomorrow," he answers as if it's nothing new. "And as far as me staying and you going..." he trails off. There's a pause, and I look to him to see why. I notice him already staring at me. "You're not getting rid of me that easily," he finishes confidently.
I can see the determination in his eyes and the seriousness on his face. I roll my eyes and shake my head.
"You're so stubborn," I reply back as I walk away from the window and toward the door.
"Where are you going?" he ask from his location behind me. I look over my shoulder at him while grabbing onto the doorknob.
"You don't expect me to stay cooped up in this room all night, do you? I'm going to have a look around," I inform him and open the door. I hear Travis' footsteps following behind me.
"Good idea, I'm starving," he stated as we begin our journey down the hallway. We make our way to the elevator we used to get come up. Once inside, Travis presses a random button. The ride was silent the entire way, but of course, Travis has to break it.
"So," he begins timidly. "Is this the type of place you grew up in?" he questions. I nod my head. He nods as well and faces the elevator doors, not saying another word. When the elevator stops and the door opens, we are greeted with loud grunts, groans, and chatter. The familiar sound welcomes me as we step of the elevator. The loudness engulfs me as I take a look around the enormous gym.
I almost smile, remembering—missing—the long days and nights spent training and training others back at the Institute. But this gym, however, is completely different from the one I grew accustom to. The gym at the Institute was divided into many areas, with half walls separating each section. This one, has no half walls. Everything was connected. Everything was wide open, making it easy for people to just walk around. To my right is an entire workout section. There are multiple types of machines that can help build muscles on every part of your body. All the machines were aligned against the wall and a good amount of soldiers were using them.
