Chapter 4
Camden ended up leaving in a fit and I pulled out my phone and started texting him the reason why I had told Penelope. I sighed and threw my phone down in my lap after hitting send.
“Did I do something wrong?” Penelope asked quietly. I closed my eyes and leaned forward.
“Nope, it was me.” I opened my eyes and looked at her.
“Do you mind if I take a nap or something?” I was so close to literally falling asleep.
“Yeah, yeah. Sure.” We stood up and made our way to the bedroom.
“I'm telling ya. You could have slept on the bed last night.” Penelope stated. I swiped the clothes off the bed and crawled on top of it.
“No I couldn't have. I like you so much that if I had then, I would be regretting what I would have done to you.” Penelope looked down and shuffled her feet.
“Oh. I see.” She said softly. I wrapped up in the blanket and layed down on the pillow.
“That's why I’m going to get some sleep now and then you can sleep tonight.” She didn't respond, so I closed my eyes and started to drift to sleep when she spoke up.
“How did you find out Camden was gay?” I sighed and looked at her. She was sitting in an uncomfortable position and I felt bad.
“Come up here. I'll scoot back so you can at least sit down.” She hesitated then got up and sat down next to me. I cleared my throat. “Camden was my best friend and eventually became my brother after my parents died. We spent everyday together and one day he told me he had a crush on me.” Penelope coughed and I looked up at her.
“I told him I just wanted to stay friends. He agreed and its what has made our relationship as best friends stronger.” I closed my eyes and eventually fell asleep.
“Sleep tight.” I heard Penelope whisper. I felt something warm touch my forehead and smiled as I slept.
************
When I woke up it was pitch black, and Penelope was asleep.
I reached over and moved a strand of her flaming red hair from her face and smiled. She had a classical beauty to her face. One that would make even the most complex of guys weak to the knees. Funny thing is, a girl like her would not fall for a guy like me. And strangely enough it seemed to be turning out that way.
I sat up a little and pulled out my phone. I had two messages from Camden. I yawned and threw my phone on the bed. I was too tired to deal with anything.
All I wanted to do now was sleep for as long as I could with the girl of my dreams before she woke up and cursed me out for spooning her. But when I woke up in the morning she didn't rip me a new one. Instead she was just staring at me with shock on her face. “
Do I have drool on my face or something?” I asked and she just stared at me. I sighed and looked out the windy at the cloudy day that was beginning.
“What were you doing?” I turned to face her.
“Excuse me?” I asked.
“Why were you...you...spooning me this morning?” She asked, whispering the word spooning as if it were a sin. I wanted to give myself a face palm for not stopping myself. Did I not say she would curse me out? Well, this was just the beginning stages.
“I honestly don’t know Penelope.” I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose. Hopefully she wouldn’t realize the undeniable glee rising up in me for having been able to cuddle with her while she was sleeping.
