 Chapter 8

We'd spent the last week fighting demons back to back. I never did much fighting though because Trevor had it covered. Not that I was one to complain. He saved me from having my “demon” come out and having to explain it to Penelope. I was grateful to him for that. But only that. Not only has he stolen the girl of my dreams but now he is beginning to steal my bad ass title. Ah, who am I kidding. I'm about as bad ass as a turtle in those situations.

Today we had a special meeting with Maribel before going into battle.

“What is it that is so important?” I asked putting my hands in my pockets. Penelope punched me in my arm. I laughed. It felt like a flower had punched me. How does she even defend herself?

“It won't take long. I just forgot to tell you two something about the handcuffs.” Maribel said sitting down on her desk and crossing her arms.

“Under no circumstances should anyone try to remove those handcuffs. If you do so, you will be killed, or the person who tried to take them off will be killed. Regardless, no one needs to take those off, not even you.” We agreed and nodded then said out goodbyes and went to work.

Boy was I glad Camden didn't try to take them off. I don't what I would have done.

You would have enjoyed it.

I halted and my eyes widened. No I would not have. This demon was pissing me off. Big time.

“You okay?” Penelope asked toughing my arm. I flinched away and she looked at me like I had grown a second head.

“I’m fine.” I grumbled. I started walking and saw Trevor staring at me.

Fuck his eyes. They looked like they were staring into my soul.

He knows I'm here Kingsley.

Shut up! I was about to flip. Out of all times, he decides to come out now. Ignore him until you get the job done.

We arrived at the school where our supposed demons were. It was an abandoned school and it had a really creepy feel to it.

“I dont like this.” Penelope whispered walking up beside me. I thought about grabbing her hand but Trevor beat me to it. This was so not my day.

We continued forward and Trevor stopped. He started sniffing the air like a dog and then turned to us.

“It's in the shadow.” I looked in front of us and saw the shadow created by the roof of the building blocking the sun. The I saw a pair of red eyes pop up in the shadow.

“Holy.” I whispered walking back. Red eyes just kept popping up from the shadow and then they finally came out.

They were girls. About fifteen of them. I looked at Trevor and he met my gaze.

“I got this.” He nodded. I shrugged my shoulders and he went after them. He jumped in the air and came down on them. They all dodged him and he landed as the circled around him. I lost sight of him but saw one by one the girls fly backwards and land on the ground. I looked at Penelope.

“Lets go shoot the ones he knocks down.” Penelope looked at me like I had gone crazy. With this demon in me, I might as well have had already gone physco. I whipped out the gun and sprinted forward. Penelope and I tag teamed shooting each demon that Trevor had knocked down. Then Penelope screamed. I turned around and saw Trevor lying in front of us.

“Oh god. Kingsley. He's bleeding!” I looked down and as soon as I saw the blood I felt it coming out. I bent forward and tried pushing him back down but he was beating me.
