Chapter 7
I was walking through a corridor. It was completely black but I could see a little small amount of black light at the end of the hall. I ran towards it and saw the beast standing there. I could see its wings and horns but only its black silhouette stood out to me amongst the red fiery light.
“Has anyone told you the truth?” It said in a scratchy voice that made my head ache. Like something with long nails was raking my brain.
“It's all been a lie hasn't it?” I yelled back.
“My life, my love...has my whole existence been a lie?” I yelled disgustedly. I ran towards it and saw its golden eyes stare right through my soul. “Tell me the truth. Let me hear it. FROM YOUR MOUTH.” I yelled.
The monster let out a bellowing laugh and growled as it looked down at me. It swing it's hand back and I felt the sheering pain as its claws sunk into my stomach. I coughed and heard the splat of my blood as it hit the floor. The creature lifted me off the ground with its claws in my abdomen and laughed before throwing me. I feel with a thud kept hearing his laughter.
I woke up in a cold sweat. My chest heaving, I glanced back and fourth across the room. I felt the sting of the tears in my eyes as I brought my knees to my chest and let the tears fall.
“I-I don't know how many people I've killed Maribel! You think I just count them down as I kill them.” I spat at her turning around.
“Trevor go tell Miss Penelope this may take a while so she can leave if she wants.” Maribel said shooing him with her hand. He nodded and followed. I turned around and marched to her.
“How do I get rid of it?” I asked panicked. I was so scared right now. This demon was there the night my house caught on fire. If it killed my parents then it's capable of killing Penelope and even Camden. Maribel clucked her tongue and shook her head.
“It's not that easy Kingsley.” I paced back and forth and slammened my fist against the wall. The building shook and Maribel stared at me.
“I don't care if it kills me! I don't want to hurt the ones I love again.” She looked at me with sympathy and sighed.
“You can do one of two things. You can either summon it and fight it or kill yourself.” I pinched the bridge of my nose and sighed.
“How can I summon it?” I asked. Maribel was silent and I looked up to see her looking through a file.
“Sorry, I'm getting so old, simple things just slip my mind.” Knowing how to visit a demon inside of you is simple? I would hate to see what hard was for her.
“Ah, here we go. You need to go into a comatose state. Almost like a lucid dream. Call out to the demon and invite him to talk to you. They might not answer right away and decide to talk to you in your dreams.” She closed the file and looked at me sternly again.
“ Be weary if it talks to you through your dreams. Whatever happens in the dream won't actually happen to you in real life but it is like telling you the future.”
I lifted my head and wiped the tears. I guess I knew my fate now. Getting stabbed in the gut by a demon bird thing was exactly how I imagined dying. I laughed at my stuidity and heard Penelope grunt beside me. I looked down at her face. It was covered by her fiery red curls and I felt my heart jump.
She was so beautiful. I never had a chance now though.
I walked out of the apartment and heard Penelope's giggle. I looked over to see her standing with Trevor and, flirting with him?
