Chapter 10

I was on a stage and it was completely black. And it was cold. So cold. I shivered and looked around. Not like it did much since I couldn't see anything.

“Hello?” I yelled out. My voice echoed out. No answer. I felt around the air to see if there was a wall or a door or something to hold onto. Nothing. “Hello?” I shouted louder. Still no answer. Another round of shivers convulsed through my body and I was starting to get pissed.

“God dammit! Someone answer me!” I yelled. I heard a clap and a bright white light turned on above me. I squinted and hissed as the sudden light burned my eyes a little. As my eyes adjusted, I looked around. I was in an endless black room. And I was still cold.

“You turned on a light. Wow. You still didn't fucking answer me!” I yelled. I heard another clap and I saw a man step out of the black abyss that surrounded the room. He had long shiny black hair with a streak of white running through his bangs.

His eyes looked like they were pure gold and I noticed he wasn’t wearing a shirt, but only a long leather trench coat. His whole entire chest was covered in tattoos and his nails were long, sharp and black. He walked towards me clapping.

“Glad to see you Kingsley.” He said in a smooth voice.

“As you can tell, I have come to you in my human form.” He said moving his hands down his body.

“That doesn't explain why I'm here.” I snapped. He laughed and I looked at him like he was fucking insane. He probably was. Most demons were.

“Someone has cast a spell on you that isn't allowing me to turn into my demon form. I just thought I'd ask you if you knew anything about it, seeing as we are friends.” He said gliding over to me. Damn, his voice was so smooth.

“We are not friends. We were never friends and we never will be. Because I am going to kill you and get rid of you once and for all.” I said through gritted teeth. He laughed again and smoothed his hair.

“That's right. We have a battle tomorrow don't we. Ah, that'll be interesting.” He chuckled and looked o the ground. “I better let you go then so you can get all the rest you need. Not like it would matter.”

“Hey, why don't you stop circling me like a dog.” I snapped at him. He stopped immediately and rushed to me. Damn he was fast. He grabbed my chin and lifted it up to him.

“This better?” He smiled. I smacked his hand away and he laughed.

“I hope we can become greater friends.” I scoffed.

“In your demon dreams. You're gone tomorrow. End of story.” He looked at me serious and I flinched as a wave of cold rushed over my body.

“We'll see about that. Kingsley.”

I sat up straight as my breath caught in my throat. Penelope bolted up next to me.

“What's wrong? Are you alright?” she asked frantic. I wiped the sweat off my forehead and shook my head.

“Yeah, I'm fine.” My voice shook. I turned to Penelope and pulled her back down.

“Let's just go back to sleep.” I said. She was silent for a second and I realized she was already asleep and I was about to follow her lead.

We woke up around seven in the morning and decided to have a big breakfast. Luckily, Camden and Felix were also home so they joined in on the festives. I decided to explain to Camden why this was happening and that I might not come back tonight.

Of course, Felix being the over protective brother he is freaked out about if Penelope was coming back as well. We assured him that she was going to be safe. Camden looked like he was going to cry as he processed the information but then smiled and said he trusted me and knew that whatever trouble I was in, I would get out of it. Trevor came to get us just as we finished cleaning up. Before we left Camden hugged me and told me he would be waiting for me here with my favorite foods and my favorite movies.
