Chapter 3
“Kingsley. Dude.” I jolted up to see Camden leaned over me. I wiped the drool from my face and looked over to see Penelope fast asleep.
“What time is it man?” I whispered.
“It's like three in the morning.” I looked at him and noticed he looked a little tousled up. “Did you just get here?” He nodded and handed me a bag.
“Wild night?” I asked. I grabbed the bag and put it next to me. His cheeks colored and he smiled.
“You could say that.” I patted him on the back.
“Good job.” I looked at the bag and then back at him.
“Its the clothes for Penelope. It's all that is really gonna work for her right now in this situation.” I nodded and thanked him.
“I'm gonna head to bed now so I'll talk to you later.” He walked out the door and I looked back at Penelope. She looked so peaceful. Like not anything could make her more happier. That’s when I started to wonder if she had ever slept this peacefully at her house. Another question for another time.
I layed my head back down and drifted back to sleep. When I opened my eyes, I saw Penelope staring at me.
“Good morning.” She mumered. I grunted and sat up rubbing my eyes. My back was killing me from sitting up while sleeping.
I tried to stretch and immediately stopped before I could even begin. “Damn. Ow.” I sucked in air as I tried to massage my lower back.
“You could've slept on the bed.” I looked up to see Penelope sitting up now with the blanket wrapped around her.
“ Nah. I’m fine.” She rolled her eyes and looked at the wall.
“Doesn’t sound like it.” She mumbled. “What's in that bag?” She asked pointing to the big yellow bag Camden had brought the clothes in. I picked it up and handed it to her.
“Clothes for you.” Her face lit up like a kid receiving their Christmas presents and she dumped the contents of the bag on the bed. Flowly tube dresses, halter tops and some skirts and stockings crowded my bed in a massive heap. She tossed the bag aside and started rummaging through it. She eventually, after many oh's, ah's and disapproving faces, held up what I assumed was a dress. It was navy blue with white birds on it.
“Defiantly wearing this one.” She said smiling. I sighed and sat up, which was a task all in itself due to my back problems, and turned around.
“Hurry up and change. We are wasting daylight.” While she changed I checked my phone. It was seven a.m.. Camden was most likely still asleep. I quickly messaged him letting him know Penelope and I were about to head out and then put my phone back in my pocket.
“How do I look?” I turned around as Penelope jumped off my bed to face me.
“What the hell is that?” I asked. I thought it was a dress but it surely was not.
“Its a romper.”
A what?
“Its like a dress but instead of a skirt at the bottom, there are shorts.” she said sticking her hands in her pockets and twirling around. I gave her a half smile and she gasped and rushed over to me.
“You have dimples.” She said astonished. I chuckled and her face turned red.
“Do you ever not blush?” I asked stretching my back. Or at least trying to until I realized that was a bad idea.
