Pete Mitchell headed to the only bar near base, taking a seat at empty stool at the counter. His attention shifted from the young recruits who reminded him of himself back in the day, playing darts, to his phone which had lit up from a text message he had received.

His fingers typed a few responses until a familiar voice snapped his attention upwards.

"Oh you've got to be kidding me, Pete" Penny greets, walking over to him. Pete looks up, amazed.

"Penny, what are you doing here?"

Penny laughs, "I should ask you the same thing"

"That is a long story" he responded with a small sigh.

"I doubt that. Who'd you piss off this time?" Penny asked as she cleaned a few mugs and cups.

"The other admiral" Mitchell admitted, leaning onto the bar.

"Exactly" Penny said, giving an emotionless look at Pete. She walks away to place the clean cups away.

"Are you mad at me?" Mitchell asked, confused. He had thought the last time they saw each other they had left on a good note. He was obviously mistaken.

"Oh, Pete. I can never stay mad at you. That's the problem" Penny grinned.

"So, I learned of the accident. I'm assuming you didn't know either?" Pete asked sounding a little defeated.

"Last night. She came to visit me. It's been eight years. Eight years since we saw each other. I didn't want to fight with her about it" Penny explained before going back to helping serve some of the customers.

Suddenly the door opened and the presence that stepped inside caught everyone's attention. Including Penny's.

Tucker stepped in, brushing the sand off of her boots and pushing her sunglasses on top of the slicked back brunette bun. Her uniform was neatly tucked into the right places and every crease was ironed correctly.

She looked like the confident Tucker Benjamin she once was when she had left for the Navy all those years ago.

Tucker was sure being back in California had something to do with it. An instant boost in happiness.

She stepped further into the bar, her eyes scanned the room.

Cpt. Mitchell's eyes followed Penny's gaze immediately. "That's our daughter right?" Mitchell asked, whipping his head around. He hadn't seen her since she was still in high school, it was her sophomore year.
