Maverick walked the halls, making sure everyone else was okay while Tornado was being observed at the local hospital. He had walked into the recreation room to find Rooster sitting alone, his head pointed down at the floor.

"Tornado is being held for observation in the hospital. She's gonna be okay" Maverick softly explained like he did with everyone else.

"That's good...I've never lost a wingman" Bradley muttered unable to look at Maverick.

"You're lucky. You fly long enough it will happen. There will be others" Maverick informed him. He began to walk out of the room to head to bed but Rooster didn't want to end the conversation at that.

"Easy for you to say. No wife. No kids. No one to mourn you when you burn in" Bradley shamelessly stated. Though he knew Maverick and Tornado were related he also knew just how far apart they truly were.  She hadn't seen him for years.

Maverick's eyes shut closed, hurt by the words. He had wished he had been there Tucker's whole life. It would have gave everything he done in life more meaning, purpose and potentially make it easier to walk away from this all.

He also would have handled the situation with Rooster a whole lot differently.

Maverick, however, bit his tongue, holding back his true feelings.  "Go to your room. Get some sleep" Maverick instructed, turning to leave the room.

"Why did you pull my papers at the academy? Why did you stand in my way?" Bradley shouted. He stood up from his seat with anger in his eyes. "You didn't even stop your own daughters!"

"You weren't ready. Plus, I didn't know about Tucker enlisting or I would have done the same"

"Ready for what?" Bradley asked in a fit of anger, walking straight up to her father. He turned around and looked up to Bradley who stood a few inches taller. "Huh? Ready to fly like you?"

"No, ready to forget the book. Ready to trust your instincts. Don't think, just do. You think up there, you're dead, believe me!"

"My dad believed in you!" Bradley fought back. His words like daggers to Maverick's heart. "I'm not going to make the same mistake.

The door opened and Bates called out to Maverick. "Maverick. Tornado has arrived"

Mitchell looked at Rooster one more time before following Bates to the office. There stood Tucker dressed back in a new clean uniform.

"Sir" she greeted as the two admirals and Captain Mitchell stood in front of her.

"Lt. Benjamin, we are happy to see you are okay" admiral Simpson began.
