Katie came to visit my classroom today. I was excited to see her. It's been a while since we talked last. Other then the party that was the last time. She moved in with her sister and we've been strangers. I listened to Katie as she told me a story about what happened in the teachers lounge  today,  but I couldnt help but be distracted. My arm hurt today, I cleaned it before work this morning and it looked bad.

"You okay, you barely said a word"? She asked, taking a bite of her salad. I nodded and took a grape out of the container. She glanced at my arm and sighed.

"I think you need to end things with Alex". She blurted.

I giggled and wiped my hands with my napkin. She wasnt wrong but what made her think of that.

"Did he"? She didn't finish what she was going to say, only her eyes finished the sentence.

"No, he didnt do this. I burned it on the stove making popcorn". I whispered. She didnt say anything else after the lunch bell rang.

"I'll be over maybe tonight or tomorrow. I need to get some things over my moms. If you want you can come with me". She offered but I declined.

"I gotta make some lesson plans. Mom decided to use the check we got from Desmond to take a family road trip. I'll have a sub all week". I informed her. She gave me a smile.

"Its good to get away. You deserve it". She got up and grabbed her things. "Oh and next time you see Desmond or Austin, let them know about your friend who also would like a vacation". She smiled.

I rolled my eyes and waved her off, soon after the small children were walking in with moms and dad. Round two and I'll be outta here in no time.

"What do you mean you cant go"? I wined to my mother. She was fixing dinner as Sarah helped.

"You know I cant. Take time for yourself, bring Katie or Hailey". She spoke. I rolled my eyes and groaned. Troy walked in, patting my arm. I hissed in pain and he was confused.

"It was supposed to be a family vacation". I said again, this time trying to use my puppy dog eyes.

"Alana Rose, I cant. I have work and I had plans this weekend. Unlike some i try to keep my promises". She bluntly spoke. I rolled my eyes and sat down next to Troy.

"Mike and Austin are going, go with them and Hailey. I'm sure they wouldnt mind".

I kept my stance on the plate of chicken in front of me. The doorbell rang, breaking me from my trance. I got up and when I opened it, i was greeted with Austin and Desmond.

"Ah Alana. How are you sweetheart". Desmond smiled. Walking in he passed me and walked into the kitchen. Did he get Invited? Austin stood there, hands behind his back, a smirk on his face. I moved to the side as he walked in, lightly poking my stomach as he passed.

"What a pleasant surprise. I didnt know you guys were coming". My mom smiled.

"Oh yes, Mike told us to meet him here. He wanted to talk to everyone". Desmond smiled, shaking Troy's hand. Austin sat down next to me, moving his chair closer to the table. Seconds later Mike walked in, holding Kaidens hand. Haley was holding Laylah.

"Good, you're all here". He spoke and let go of Kaidens hand. Kaiden sat next to me on the other side. Grabbing a piece of bread off the plate in front of him.

"I want to go on a vacation. All of us". He blurted out.

"Yeah good luck. Moms not going". I whispered, all eyes on me. "What, I'm just saying what she told me". I spoke again. The only eyes that burned into me were Austin's. Why was he so eager to see what I did. I grabbed my fork, only to drop it onto the floor. Great he was making me nervous again. Before I had time to get it he handed me his. It was like he was my own personal protector.

"Well mom and I talked. We thought that just us would go. The 'kids'". He smiled. "Like us, with Troy and if Katie wants to come she can". He added. What was he thinking. I barely know Austin.

"I think that's perfect son, it's time you all bond. Since we left Colorado Austin and I dont know many around here". Desmond smiled. I glanced over to Austin, his eyes fixated on the plate infront of him. Did he not like the idea?

"If we would agree, we would all leave tonight, after dinner". Mike added. His eyes turned to me and he begged. I glanced at Hailey who shook her head.

"I'm not going. I'm taking care of my grandma. It was all perfect timing really". She spoke, handing Kaiden another roll.

"C'mon Lani, I need my partner in crime. I'll call Katie". Mike smiled. With a loud sigh I nodded, earning a cheer from Mike.

"Okay, so now we eat and we will catch the next plane out to Miami". He smiled and I neatly chocked on my water. "Miami"! Austin patted my back to ease the coughing.

"Oh nonsense. You can take my jet. You're like my son anyways". Desmond smiled.

A jet! Miami! What the actual hell!

Once everyone started eating I twirled my fork in my fingers, only dropping it again. I mentally kicked myself as Austin quietly chuckled.

"Oh princess". And with that he gave me the extra one on the table.

"The family knows about it"? I asked my father. "Getting them out if town wont stop those men not to look for her". I hissed.

"They found her out son. The only thing we can do is sell them the guns, each bullet containing one small crystal of sapphire. It could kill them in seconds once they use it, that's why we sell them to kill off all who want it". My father spoke. "If they find out that we are vampires, hiding the body of a RH blood factor, they will kill". He added.

He smiled as he pulled into the Karters driveway. I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose. The way I have been feeling lately, I dont think it's a good idea to leave with my problem. I've been feeding more, just to be able to stay around Lani. How will she react if she walked in on me drinking a blood bag?

"Son, you and I both know you're all she thinks about. Right now just listen. Hear her heartbeat? That's for you". He smiled.

I glanced up at the house and then to my father. "Fine.". And we got out.

We made it to the front door and I sensed her. She was walking to get it. That's when the door opened to see her there. She was still dressed in work clothes. Her legs showed in her skirt, wasnt she cold? I walked in as she moved to the side, I lightly poked her stomach just to hear her giggle. It was music to my ears.

As we sat down, Mike showed up with both kids and Hailey. Laylahs thoughts going through my mind as well as others. She wants the bread on the table. Alana picked the fork up next to her as Mike talked about the trip. I knew she was going to drop it. I couldnt just quickly grab it, that would cause many questions. I reached down and grabbed it, handing her mine. When I glanced at the food infront of me, i felt sick. I needed another blood bag. I sensed her again with the new fork, laughing to myself as it dropped again. I picked it up again and smiled.

"Oh Princess".
