Leo and I were sitting next to each other, depressed, due to the fact that our best friends were leaving us today. We sat there, silent, looking at ground. Soon, Tasha came in and said,
"Leo, Jaz, there you guys are." We ignored her and continued to silently look at the ground, "Guys, I know you're sad about your friends leaving. But think of all the time you'll get spend with me!" We glanced up at her without any facial expressions, "Oooh! We can play your guys' little video games!" She suggested and pointed somewhere off into space, "You know, the one where you hold the thingy," She said and used her hands to demonstrate a remote, "And you move the other thingy." She continued to use the hand motions until we both glanced at each other, thinking the exact same thing.
"Tasha, with all due respect," I started.
"It is way too late in life for you to learn video games." Leo finished. Tasha looked offended, but we ignored it and got up from the chairs we were sitting in. Tasha followed suit. We walked into the living room to be met with Mr. Davenport, fiddling with a red sheet that hung in the air. We walked over to the sheet in confusion.
"Good morning, happy family and Jaz," Davenport said happily and crossed his arms across his chest with a smile on his. We continued to wearily walk towards the sheet.
"What is that?" Tasha asked from behind us, mocking Davenport's happy attitude.
"Whatever it is," Leo started, "Don't get too attached," He made a good point.
"True," I backed him up. He had referred to the Rats. We all looked to Mr. Davenport, who still had this stupid smile swept across his face. When we looked at him, his smile disappeared into a look of dismay. Kind of like our faces. He started to walk towards us,
"Look, guys, I know you're going to miss Adam, Bree and Chase," He put his hand on our shoulders, "So," he started to back away from us, getting closer to the sheet, "I laser scanned their features," He pulled down the sheet, "onto these bio-synthetic robots," He put the sheet on the couch, "And I programmed them with their core personality traits." He had that same smile on his face that he had a few minutes ago. Robots. Chase. Bree. Adam. Robots. They looked so pale, and quite lifeless. They were no where near the real trio. They could never replace them in my heart, "Is this great or what?" Davenport asked, and I was completely speechless, "It'll be like they never left," Oh, yes it will Davenport. Yes, it will. I still stood speechless, lost in my thoughts until I heard a metal noise. Leo had knocked on Adam's arm, which made a metal clinking noise. In response, Robot Adam flicked him on the forehead, "What do you think?" Davenport asked us. Before Leo could answer, I answered for him,
"I think the excitement of having a best friend with a billionaire dad just wore off," Leo agreed with me and rubbed the spot that Robo Adam flicked. Leo walked off somewhere, but I just sat on the couch, still listening to what Tasha and Davenport were saying,
"Donald," She starts, "I don't know about this," She said unsure, "I kind of prefer Leo and Jaz to have friends who can't malfunction and tear them limb from limb," She said, walking towards the robots, but then coming towards me. Soon, I saw Adam, Bree and Chase with Leo coming towards the robots in their mission suits.
"What are those?" Bree asked, pointing to the robots. The robots, still with a blank face slowly turned to Bree. I stood up from the couch and stood in between Adam and Leo. Leo began to talk,
"Oh, Dr. Franken Brain here," He gestured to Mr. Davenport, "is trying to replace with creepy robots."
"Welcome to crazy town." I finished. I waved my hands in the air and rolled my eyes.
