Chapter 6!
Heart to Heart

"It sucks that your dad couldn't find any new students," Bonnie said as the two girls stretched, mirroring their routine from the day before.

"I know. I don't know how he hasn't given up yet."

"Mr. Miyagi must have instilled some rock-hard patience in him. I would've given up by now too."

The conversation lapsed into silence as they watched Robby, rubbing what looked like a painful bump on the back of his head, walk inside to talk with Daniel. Then Bonnie resumed their conversation.

"Did you manage to talk to Aisha, at all?" She asked.

Sam's expression turned sour. "Yeah, it didn't go well."

Bonnie was surprised. "Really? What happened?"

"Her new friend was a real bitch."

The girls fell into silence again as Daniel and Robby stepped outside.

"Mr. Miyagi didn't recruit me. He wasn't looking for students. He took me in because I needed him. I came to him, not the other way around. It's time we be patient. Let those who need us find us. Right?" Daniel said, exchanging glances with his three students, who nodded.

As if on cue, a voice interrupted them from behind, "Excuse me."

They all turned to see a tall, dark-haired boy. Bonnie recognized him instantly as Demetri, one of Miguel's friends.

"Uh, it was unclear if the gate was the front door or if I was supposed to ring the doorbell."

Once again, the four exchanged glances, confusion evident on each face.

"Is that a koi pond?" Demetri continued. "How much does it cost to maintain that?"

"May I help you?" Daniel interjected.

"Uh... Yeah. I wanna learn karate."

Bonnie's face lit up. She glanced at Sam, who had a beaming smile on her face, then at Robby, who let out a relieved laugh.

"You have come to the right place," Daniel beamed.

After training, Bonnie, Robby, Sam, and Demetri decided to head to the mall. The first thing they did upon arriving was head to the food court, as they were all hungry after a long day.

The teens split up to visit different food stalls. Bonnie and Robby were the first to return to a table, trays full of food. Sam joined them shortly after. Their conversation started with karate, then meandered through various topics until they finally landed on discussing their driver's licenses.

"Oh-ho-ho! Sweet man bun," Sam said as she and Bonnie stared down at Robby's drivers license.

Robby laughed. "I told you it was a horrible picture."

"If we had been friends back then, I could've warned you that you'd regret it one day," Bonnie joked.

"Yeah, well, I'm stuck with it for five years, so no biggie, right?"

Sam and Bonnie giggled. Then Bonnie's eyes caught the name on the license. "Wait, your full name is Robert Swayze Keene?!"

"My mom was a huge fan of Patrick Swayze," Robby chuckled. "He was an actor in the '80s."

"Yeah, like we haven't seen Dirty Dancing, like, a hundred times," Sam said, turning to Bonnie, who giggled, nodding her head.

"My mom made me watch it all the time."
