Chapter 2!
Miyagi-Do
____________________After getting into some comfortable workout gear, Bonnie sat back down on her bed, waiting for Sam's arrival. While she waited, she decided to watch some karate tournament videos on YouTube, just to refresh her memory a bit. After watching a few videos, Bonnie slammed her laptop shut in a huff; there was no way she would remember all the moves Daniel had taught her when she was a child. She also definitely wasn't as skilled as the fighters in the videos she had watched.
Bonnie didn't realize she was daydreaming until she heard a knock on her door, which gave her quite a big fright.
"Sam? Is that you?" Bonnie asked once she had composed herself.
"Nope, it's Zane," Bonnie's older brother said. Then he opened the door and popped his head into his sister's room. "Can I come in?"
Bonnie nodded, patting the spot next to her on her bed. Zane made his way over and sat down next to her.
"I heard your conversation on the phone with Sam earlier. I think it's a good idea... rejoining karate, I mean."
"Really? I'm not so sure. It's been so long since I've done karate; what if I've forgotten everything?"
Zane turned to his sister and gave her a soft smile. "I don't think that's going to be the case, Bon. You're a quick learner, and it'll be way easier since you've learned it all before. I bet you'll have every move down within a week, and you'll easily pick up all the new stuff too."
"You really think so?" Bonnie asked, making direct eye contact with her brother to make sure he wasn't lying.
"I know so," Zane said, maintaining eye contact with Bonnie. He was telling the truth; Zane wouldn't have been able to maintain eye contact if he was lying; it was one of his tells.
Bonnie let out a sigh of relief just as the doorbell rang throughout the house.
"Looks like Sam's here. Thanks for the talk, Zane. It really helped," Bonnie smiled and gave her brother a quick hug before darting out of her room and heading straight for the front door.
Bonnie flung open the front door and gave her best friend a big toothy smile.
"You look excited," Sam said with a giggle. "Ready to go?"
"As ready as I'll ever be," Bonnie replied, and then the two girls made their way over to Sam's car.

"I'm starting to regret this," Bonnie said as she and Sam pulled up at the dojo.
"Oh Bonnie, you'll be fine. Come on!"
The two girls got out of Sam's car and after only walking a few steps, Sam's phone rang.
"You go ahead, I need to take this," Sam said.
Bonnie nodded and explored the dojo. She finally reached her final destination and saw who she assumed to be Robby, aggressively punching a punching bag. She thought it best not to introduce herself just yet as she didn't want to frighten him and get accidentally punched. So she sat on the deck and watched.
A few minutes later, Sam walked through the doors.
"Look, Miguel I-" Bonnie and Sam locked eyes and Robby stopped hitting the bag. "I can't talk right now, can you just tell Aisha to call me back."
"I'm gonna go warm up," Bonnie said, alerting Robby to her presence. He'd been completely oblivious to her beforehand. "I'm Bonnie by the way, Sam's best friend.
She gave Sam a toothy smile and mouthed, "Let's talk about that call later." Sam nodded.
"I'm Robby," Robby replied. Then Bonnie walked off, leaving Sam and Robby to talk.
Just as Bonnie began her warm up stretches, Daniel walked out.
"Hey guys. Alright, perfect attendance on day one," Then he spotted Bonnie and his smile brightened. "And it looks like we've got one more student today too!"
"Yeah, I hope it's alright that I join. I've missed karate."
"The more students the better!"
