twenty four - chain reaction

——

"so have you gotten any further on your project?" i asked y/n as i glanced over at her laptop. she was working on something else for a different class since we had finished our work already and were granted some free time.

y/n puffed out her cheeks and shrugged. "honestly, not really. i've been pretty distracted with everything and haven't had any time to. you?"

i rested my cheek on my palm as i watched her eyes dart over her screen. "i already finished like two months ago. and you better hurry up and finish, it's due next month already."

y/n's lips spread into a smile and she focused her attention on me. "i know, ari. i'll work on it this week, promise." i smiled back and leaned over, giving her cheek a quick kiss.

y/n continued to finish up her work as i sat on my phone, leaning against her shoulder. the teacher's school phone rang but we both ignored it until she called out y/n's name.

y/n looked up with furrowed eyebrows. "yeah?"

"coach rob wants to see you in his office." our teacher smiled politely before returning her attention back to the papers she was grading.

i watched as y/n sighed and started to pack up her things, shoving her phone into her pocket. i smiled as she leaned down to peck my lips. "meet me outside?" she asked.

y/n had started driving me home this past month. it was super convenient since we lived next to each other and we had our last class together, which we were in currently.

i nodded and kissed her once more, watching her walk out of the room with a smile on my face.

my girlfriend is so damn cute.

y/n's pov

i sighed as i knocked on the door frame and peeked my head into coach rob's office. he looked up from his papers and huffed, waving me in.

i smiled as i left my bag by the door, making my way to sit at one of the seats on the opposite side of his. "what's up coach?" i asked as i patted my hands on my thighs.

rob had always loved me, and i honestly think he favored me. i had known him since i was a kid because he went to school with my parents, and he had been my coach since i was six years old. to be honest, he was sort of a father figure to me.

rob sighed as he tapped his forehead with the end of his pen. "i'm gonna ask you something and i need you to be honest with me, kid." he paused and i nodded immediately. "well, i got some information that you got into a pretty serious fight at a party last week. is this true?"

my cheeks were burning hot. i felt like i was a little kid being caught for doing something i definitely wasn't supposed to. i cleared my throat before nodding again. "yes sir."

another sigh from him. "i also heard that you..." he glanced down at his paper. "smashed a shot glass into the side of his face?"

i released a huge breath, my chest caving. "y-yes sir."

"were you drunk?" he questioned me, his tone angry and firm.
