-Vincent-

After that I went to my bedroom on the second floor of the small house. Julie stirred in the bed and I heard sheets being pulled back. I started to take off my work clothes. I only wore a thin, white shirt and boxers. As my eyes adjusted to the dark, I saw that Julie was sitting up. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes. Then they opened. They cut through the darkness and landed on me. "What time is it?"

I looked at the clock on the wall. "It's about one. Go back to sleep." I threw my dirty clothes into the basket and headed to the couch. I would eventually have to just buy a second bed for our room. The couch really killed my back.

"Vincent, wait."

I sat on the couch and looked at her. "What is it?"

She grabbed the blanket that covered her legs. "I don't want Viktor to live here." Her eyes fell to the floor, highlighting her cheekbones.

I looked away from her and started to straighten out pillows. "Well, Grandmother is putting spells on him. The safest place for him is here right now. If he gives you any trouble, just say Leach." I tried not to smile, but I couldn't help but feel mirth. Viktor would be our bitch. I loved it more than I should have.

"I heard you guys talking. The walls are almost paper thin," she stated.

"So you don't need to worry about him hurting you."

She didn't reply to me, only closed her eyes and curled back in the bed. I did the same on my couch and eventually a restless sleep enveloped me. My light sleep didn't last that long anyway. Only a few hours later, I was pulled awake by something hitting my stomach. I jumped up and took in what was happening. Julie had somehow thrown herself off the bed and on the couch. Viktor was sitting on the bed, shirtless and looking concerned.

"What the hell?" I pushed myself off the couch and looked at the time. It was half before six. I wouldn't even have time to sleep more; I'd have to get ready for the day's routine. I turned to Viktor, ready to punch him in the face. "Stay out of our room."

He gestured to the king sized bed he sat in. "You don't even sleep with her. She looked lonely in the big, empty bed." He looked over my shoulder at Julie. "My sweet, dearest Julie should never look lonely."

In that moment I was convinced he was insane. He had to have gone crazy in that Void Cell. There was no other explanation. I looked back at Julie, pressed against the back of the couch. She somehow dragged the blanket off the bed with her and she clutched it like a child would hold a stuffed animal. I turned back to Viktor. His eyes were locked on the girl he ripped the eye out of. His expression when he looked at her was like a love sick puppy. It was disgusting. I let my fists down to my sides, but made sure he didn't move "You do know she's human. You hate humans. And she's only seventeen. We're in our fifties."

He placed his hand over his heart and smiled at Julie. "She is my true love, the one who kept me sane in the perpetual night." He turned his eyes to me and his usual scowl of hatred was back in place. "Unlike you, who was brought back from the dead. You're a monstrosity, more so than you were before, half-blood."

I didn't let his taunts get to me. Julie had finally broken from her shocked stupor and was now standing next to me. "What are you talking about Viktor? Perpetual night?" she questioned. When she stood closer to him, he leaned forward, lifting his head slightly. This gesture aggravated me. Julie didn't recognize it, but I did. He was smelling her.

Viktor's eyes almost sparkled. "I was in a terrible place. The Void is an endless nothing with lights who torment you in the distance. They speak horrible slander and they hurt my ears." He pushed back his hair to show dark, angry scars on his ears, down his neck. "But you, Julie, only your voice was beautiful and soothing. You are my salvation!"

He was utterly insane. He lost every single marble he may have had in the Void Cell. I heard of some going mad, but creating an entire relationship on the hallucination of specks of light talking to him? Ridiculous. I looked over at Julie, about to tell her to just leave before he got even more ridiculous. But Julie was just staring at him with her bright green eyes. It annoyed me she wasn't as annoyed as I was at Viktor.

"Julie, did he or did he not lose all his sanity in the Void?" I pulled her out of her haze.

She shook her head and looked away from Viktor. "He is insane. If he didn't like me when we were together before, I shouldn't like him now."

"Wait." Viktor and I said at the same time. Viktor ran after Julie as she left the room. "We can try again, this time I will be more caring!" he continued.

Julie and Viktor were together before he ripped out her eye? I mentally questioned. My chest felt weird. Was I . . . jealous?
