-Cyprio-
We prepared a funeral for Cain, and sent him back to the demon realm to his wife. Harland went with him and promised to be back as soon as he could. We still had so many things to attend to. I felt so much loss for the son I never got to know. Both of them that I have lost in the last few days. Viktor, Vincent, and Julie were trying to get settled into their house. I made sure that they were protected enough there, setting up escape routes and emergency plans if anything were to happen.
After all the bustle of that, I went back to my manor. All my parts needed to rest. It was a stressful time and I would need all the rest I could get. But just as I was about to send them all to sleep, Avila entered the manor. She grabs the first part she sees, in the bedroom wing.
"Cyprio, wait."
I tensed and turned to her. "Yes?"
She bit her lip and looked into my eyes. "I came here to say I'm sorry. You were right, things would have been better if we hadn't of interfered. Cain wouldn't have been part of it. He wouldn't have. . ." she trailed off.
"He wouldn't have died," I finished briskly.
She flinched as if in physical pain. "Yes."
I turned my head away from her. "What do you expect from this conversation, Avila? You shouldn't even be here. I was going to treat you as a hostile."
"But you haven't," she snapped back. "We are still married. I wanted to put this behind us."
I whipped my head back to her, glaring into her grey eyes. "You betrayed my very specific wishes. Upon our marriage, I had told you we could have children on the one condition that I never meet them. It would be far too much for me. Imagine if you knew you would outlive them, and meeting them would make that fact all the more devastating."
"Cyprio," she interrupted.
I stepped forward, my anger making my voice louder. "No, Avila. You listen. You directly violated that promise. You brought Viktor to me. You forced me to get involved. I trusted you and you wore it away in one action!" I felt my face getting red, my fists clenched so hard, I could have crushed steel.
Avila only looked down. "I know what I have done, Cyprio, and I am not asking for your forgiveness. I am only asking for another chance. I love you just as much as I always have."
I stared at her. My rage didn't subside, but I still loved her as much as I always have. Her eyes sparkled with tears, like storm clouds about to let out rain. I looked away and shook my head. My real weakness was not the part, buried away under the earth. It was those dove grey eyes. The dove grey eyes I immediately fell in love with.
"I will grant you a second chance," I whispered. Before she said anything though, I continued. "But, you will have to earn my trust again. I will not hand that out."
She nodded, but smiled despite my response. "Well, from the top, right? Hello, I'm Avila Huntlee."
I couldn't help but let a smile slip. "Hello, I am Cyprio."
