XIX: New Era
Third POV
Two weeks had passed since the fateful incident.
The nurse had cleared Izuku and ensure that he was a little banged up but he'd be fine after bed rest for the first week.
Something however seemed different about the boy.
He talked to Uraraka and he was much obliged to speak to Kaminari and Kirishima who'd frequently checked up on him.
It was a different story whenever Katsuki tried to speak, hell, even touch Izuku whenever they were supposed to bathe or sleep together.
Almost like Izuku was repulsed to be in Katsuki's presence.
Katsuki tried not to take it personally.
He understood that Izuku was probably feeling weird after Katsuki had found him in such a mortifying state, then there was the beginning ride back to the castle.
So Katsuki enveloped himself in the formal execution of the Utsushimi district former overseers.
Their reign of terror would be put to an end, and they would be with that wench of a daughter they had.
Death by the flames.
Spectators that gathered around from different sections of Xynia held a moment of a silence for something they'd longed for in over 20+ years.
Izuku watched as well, feeling a sense of content knowing they couldn't hurt anyone else, now that their link with theroix had been severed with their deaths.
He'd heard nothing but good things about the Ashido family, so this could be like a fresh start for those who'd been forced to live under grueling conditions by the Utsushimis.
Right.
. . .
Presently, Izuku's long dark red cape with faux white trim dragged along the bedroom floor eloquently as he stared out the window, looking towards the training field.
There he saw Kirishima, Kaminari and Katsuki.
Katsuki was soon to retire his duties and chief commander of the armies over to his two closest friends, but not before upholding one last code of fighting every last one of the new order of knights.
The sound of metal clanking against one another made Izuku's body shudder, but he couldn't help but watch and think.
Katsuki was so good with it.
He could defend himself.
Whereas Izuku was nearly taken because of his lack of training.
Royalty, knight or not, Toshinori had always reminded him that learning how to fight was essential to life.
Izuku had always pegged it as his royal advisor status that loomed on him for the man to say such things, but turns out Toshinori was right.
He was dead right.
Eventually when he got out of his trance, he looked down and noticed Katsuki wasn't fighting anyone, and he was looking somewhere else.
His gaze tilted upward.
He was looking through the window.
And right at Izuku.
He then headed for the entrance of the castle, filling Izuku's body with dread knowing Katsuki was headed to him.
Izuku damn near fainted when he heard the door and the familiar scent of sweet spices and a hint of sweat wafted from behind Izuku.
"Izuku." Katsuki's voice echoed as it was just the two of them and eerie silence, "I saw you."
No response.
"Are you still feeling sick?" Katsuki pushed, "is your head still aching..?" Reaching out to touch Izuku's shoulder before he watched the boy shake his head.
"Stop." Was all Izuku could really say, "Stop it."
Being clearly confused, Katsuki's brows dropped as he pulled his hand back,
"Stop what..?"
"Are you not revolted in me.?" Izuku asked, his throat becoming clamped up, "You know what happened that night but you haven't said anything about it."
"Why aren't you disgusted to be in the same room with someone who was on the list to become used and thrown out like garbage.?"
Izuku slowly turned around, his eyes stinging with tears, "I cannot bathe, eat or sleep properly with the others but it's tolerable since they don't really know."
He bit his lip, stifling one of many spasming breaths, "Not with you, though."
"But you didn't want it at the end of the day so-," Katsuki tried to point out but Izuku grimaced with a snarl,
"That's not the point!" He snapped, immediately apologizing for that outburst, "When they were going to kidnap me, they said that it didn't matter if anything happened, so long as people like them, like the so called scum had seen me like that, I'd be dirty and unfit to marry someone of royal status."
"I wished so hard that you would come before then but you didn't!" Izuku sobbed, his body shuddering hard as he damn near collapsed to the ground in emotional agony.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."
Before his knees could touch the ground, Katsuki caught him.
Tugging him into a tighter hug, allowing the boy to let out this wave of sadness out and onto Katsuki's chest.
"That is my burden to bear." Katsuki stated calmly, gently stroking Izuku's back to soothe him, "That night alone is my burden and something I alone will be atoning for."
Izuku slowly looked up at him, as Katsuki kissed his forehead, then the tip of his nose before his cheeks.
"This entire time you've been right beside me and supported me- and I've done nothing but disregard it." Katsuki carried on, avoiding Izuku's gaze in embarrassment, "The one time you truly needed me and wasn't there on time is something I'll never forgive myself for."
"This and the future of Xynia is placed on me, and you just staying with me is more than just enough." Katsuki hummed, staring down into Izuku's puffy and watery eyes,
"Don't leave me is all that I ask once this new era of ruling begins."
Izuku let out a breath that seemingly held a week's worth of internal torment, before he gave a single nod.
With help, he regain his composure as Katsuki took his hand and lightly kissed it, a compassionate look in his eyes as he did so.
Keeping their hands intertwined they headed out of the chambers and down to the stables where they expected by Kirishima and Kaminari.
They planned to ride out to a smaller city within Xynia to find a relatively high profiled wedding liaison.
The first step after Katsuki's crowning was for him to get married, and thankfully he's found the one to rule besides him.
