XII: The future Consort

Third POV

By the time Izuku had opened his eyes again, it was pitch black in his home.

Evening time he presumed.

From the letter, Katsuki was going to ride back to castle any moment from now. And Izuku would wait all night to see the man.

Riding valiantly with Kirishima, Kaminari and the other noblest of knights that survived the fight against Theroix army.

From what Toshinori had told him, people like the King of Theroix would never step foot into battle, and would send people into war knowing he physically wouldn't need to bloody his hands.

Katsuki was much different.

Believing if he just sat there and sent his men out to fight without facing the own risk; he wouldn't grow and understand the fear or victory they'd feel.

Therefore, no amount of pleading for the man to stay behind would've worked on Katsuki.

It moved Izuku's heart, knowing that on the battlefield Katsuki understood the meaning of being equal. Life or death.

He felt himself stare out the window for what felt like ages.

The passages of the citadel were becoming more and more deserted as people decided to turn in for the night, all expecting their king to return back to them and be in the castle first thing by tomorrow.

He supposed if he was gonna wait this long, he might as well put some food in his system otherwise this waiting would've been stopped abruptly.

Moments passed, feeling himself let out a yawn before stretching out his limbs that had remained in a curled position once he'd taken a seat at his windowsill, the room was becoming darker so he decided to light up the oil lantern hanging on the opposite wall.

His stomach then let out a rumble, finally reminding him that he hadn't eaten anything since early morning. Since he hadn't worked all day, he hadn't even noticed his hunger. He headed downstairs, preparing something small when he heard a thump at the door.

It was only for a split moment, but for some reason he felt so compelled to open up. He paced to the door, his palm touching the cool iron doorknob before closing his eyes for a moment.

Praying it was who he thought it was.

He released a breath, before opening the door. A deep gasp was let out, and two tears trailed down his freckled face before he could get the chance to wipe them, a pale hand reached out and wiped them for him.

The pale hand had blood along the grooves of their palms and knuckles, while dirt invaded their nail beds.

Shining crimson eyes skimmed at him, even though crimson goo was splattered on an Adonis-like face. Their bare abdomen was littered with scraps and bruises, looking worse than death itself.

Yet Izuku couldn't have been happier.

"K-Katsuki!" Izuku spoke in shaky breaths, gently pressing his lips gently to the X-shaped cut on Katsuki's forehead.

It was thin but it trailed down to the upper part of his nose, "I came back, didn't I?" Katsuki raspily uttered, his tone upbeat despite how horrific he looked.

Izuku slowly nodded, but his attention was just on the man's wounds and nothing else.

"You pledged to me you'd come straight to me, but I'd expect you to go to the castle infirmary to guarantee your safe-," Izuku tried to rationalize with, only to find himself tasting iron on Katsuki's pale pink lips.

"You hate it when I say some people are more important to others." Katsuki spoke, feeling Izuku pull him in, trying to lead him to the corner bed that Toshinori used to sleep on, "But I just can't."

"You are way too important to me, and a couple of scratches won't keep me away from telling you just how important you are to me."

Izuku paused, looking at Katsuki who stared at him with sluggish eyes.

He didn't say anything, but he made his way over to the medicine area, just the herbs and liquids prepped to help with small injuries.

He moistened up a rag, pouring a well-known remedy wound cleaner before gently pushing Katsuki's hair back, giving him a warning that it'd sting a bit.

The sound of Katsuki's stifled grunts made Izuku's heart palpitate, feeling his body go weak as he filled with excitement knowing he was still alive.

Weak, but alive.

He did up Katsuki's wounds for him, only twisting to the window to see the other riders, including Kirishima and Kaminari.

"D-did you? Did you ride ahead?" Izuku whispered, monitoring as Katsuki hitched his breath every time Izuku placed the rag on his broken skin.

"Was what I said in the letter not clear enough," Katsuki rolled on his side despite Izuku's warnings not to, "I told you I'd come for you first before anything or anyone."

He grabbed onto Izuku's hand, placing it on his cheek, before letting out a deep hum.

Izuku gaped at him, a smile creeping onto his flushed complexion before using his opposite hand to reach out for the bandages.

Katsuki gradually let go, but he kept a hand on Izuku's wrist, shifting slightly as Izuku dressed his main wounds, not being able to do much for the scratches on his face besides ensuring it didn't become infected as the human body did what needed to be done.

Once Katsuki was all bandaged up, Izuku found himself flinging himself onto the king of Xynia, leaving languorous kisses on the man's face and the rest of his body.

Katsuki's mandated right hand slipped underneath the black cloak and Izuku's top, feeling so at ease with his former maid.

No, with his love.

By the time  Izuku had decided to come up for air, he felt Katsuki slip something on his marital finger, looking down to see Katsuki's knighting ring.

"I've missed you." Katsuki murmured just loud enough for them alone to hear, "More than you could possibly understand."

He let out a strong breath that tickled Izuku's neck before he pulled back,

"I'm gonna marry you. Not Camie."

Izuku scanned his eyes, watching as Katsuki took his hand and placed a gentle kiss on it.

"This time, there's nothing stopping me from being with you."

Not knowing what to say, Izuku threw himself back onto the King, so ecstatic to have the man all back to himself. The feeling of hunger was no longer there, as the two of them enveloped one another in their arms, not wanting to let go until the very end of the night.
