Okay, so y'all know how the word "said" is kinda undescriptive? For example.
"Nice hair" Percy said, gazing at Felicia's head.
"Um, I'm bald," Felicia said.
"Oh," Percy said.
"Bye," said Felicia.
Bye, Felicia," said Percy.Like what are they feeling??? idk know because "said" is so basic!! They could be shouting, whispering, giggling...
But sometimes, the right synonym I'm looking for just doesn't sit well with me. Here are a few!
Growled
"Get back here!" Hades growled.Any of these like "snarled" "purred" "barked" just seem very prehistoric. They are perfectly usable, but when ever is see one of them, I think of that character as a dog or a cougar or something with big teeth...
Murmured
"I missed you," she murmured, as they embraced each other.
Honestly the only reason this word creeps me out is because "murmur" sounds weird. Just whisper "murmur" over and over to yourself and you'll be totally freaked out by the word.
Chuckled
"That's a good joke," Draco chuckled.
All I can imagine when I see this is some guy going "huehuehueguehuehuehuehuehuehuehuehuehue"
Srsly wtf is wrong with me.
Boomed
"Heimdall! Open the Bifrost!" Thor boomed.
Lmao boomed and Thor get it? Ey? Ey??? This just makes me think of Thor too much. I could writing about the cutest little girl ever and then she says something really loudly and I just
"HELLO DADDY" Ella boomed in the deepest voice her inner Chris Hemsworth could muster.
Bellowed
I will only allow Friar Tuck to bellow, gracias no gracias.
Okay that's all for now! Hope you enjoyed and had a good laugh. Comment some of your uncomfortable synonyms (not necessarily for "said" only)!
PS have any of you guys and gals seen Age of Ultron yet? Lets totally talk about it because yasssss it was amazinggggggg!!!!!!!
