Snow Storm

I should've paid attention to the weather warning about the potential snow storm. I ignored it thought, all I wanted was to get out and ski, I prefer snowboarding, but they didn't have any for rent at the moment.

I giggled as the wind whipped at my face and the snow started to fall heavier and heavier. I thought I would be able to make it down the hill before the flurry of snowflakes, but I didn't and ended up in a pine tree.

It was cold, getting dark, the snow wouldn't stop falling and I curled myself into a ball against the trunk of the tree. I rubbed my gloves together and readjusted the foot and hand warmers I had. I pulled my beanie down my head a little farther trying to cover my ears.

I saw something move in the snowflakes. Fear struck my body, at first it looked like a wolf, or an animal of some sort. A bear? All I wished now is that I hadn't decided to go skiing.

"Are you ok?" I looked up from my knees and saw a guy standing there. I let out a yelp and hit my head on the trunk of the tree. He had soft brown eyes. The rest of his face was covered by a ski mask.

"Cold." Was all my cold lips could manage. I tried to warm myself up but than the man started to dig a hole near me. "Are you gonna bury me? Are you going to kill me? Are you a serial killer? Are you the guy they warned us about down at the lodge? I swear I haven't done anything! Pleas-" He put a gloved hand up and I stopped rambling.

"You're an idiot." Was all he said in response.

"I-" I closed my mouth and watched him look back at me from is digging. "I thought I could make it to the bottom before the storm started." I shivered and saw him get up and walk away. I was about to get up and follow him, or run away, until he came back with both of my skis in hand.

"Don't move." It was a simple command, he still sounded bossy.

"Ok." I said quietly. He set the skis in the hole and hopped down into the hole and when I looked down he was sitting and the skis had been shoved into the snow wall next to him.

"Come here." He held out his arms and I tried to go slow but ended up tumbling on top of him. He let out a grunt and then sighed. "I didn't mean fall on top of me." I mumbled a quick 'sorry' and then adjusted myself so I was somehow laying on his chest.

"Why are you doing this?" I asked. I felt him pull me closer into his chest and rest his head on my shoulder.

"Well, can't have you running down to the lodge screaming that you know the Ski Killer." He chuckled, it wasn't lighthearted. I wiggled and tried to get out of his grasp and he let me go suddenly and I flipped around. His mask was off and underneath was a man with a small scar over his eye and dark hair.

"You're-"

"Dangerously attractive?" He smirked. I gulped and did a slow nod, he crawled over to me and when he was above me I could feel heat rise to me cheeks.

"Can I ever go back to the lodge?" I asked. His face went from lustful and cocky to a little worried.

"Love...I don't think so." He sounded pained. I blew out a breath and looked down at my feet. I felt the tears spill over.

"I'm cold. I want to go somewhere warm. I'm tired. I just...just-" I started to sob. Sometimes when you realize how bad life's gotten it all spills over at once. I felt him wrap his arms around me. My face was in his chest.

"I know a place." He said softly, he kissed my temple. "But, it's a walk, especially in the snow." I nodded slowly, and looked up at him he wiped away a tear.

"I just want to be warm and sleep. I'm just tired." I sighed. He picked me up and took the skis. He placed me on them and wrapped his arms around my waist.

"I'm gonna help you get there faster." He whispered in my ear. I nodded and somehow, someway we made it to a small hidden lodge in the forest. The snow fell around us, softer this time. Not as heavy.

"What's your name?" I asked as he stored the skis and the boots in some shed.

"Kane." He said, he looked at me and tilted his head, "What's yours?"

"Selvie." I said quietly, and started to fumble with my fingers.

"Interesting." Was all he said, and that made me shake my leg. Interesting? What's that supposed to mean? My brain went into override and every little thing was being looked into like a murder case. "Hey." His voice made everything stop and I looked back into his soft green, forest eyes.

"I...uh...I'm hungry." I said, trying to cover up my panic.

"I think you're panicking."

"Am not!" I said a little too fast, and a little too loud. He gave me a soft smile.

"And nervous." He added. He scooped me up bridal style and carried me into the wooden place. The warmth hit me and all I could feel now was hunger, and sleep calling me. He took off all my outer layers leaving me in a thin pair of pajamas. He wrapped me in a blanket and carried me to a soft bed.

"Wait." I called out, he stopped trying to leave the room.

"Yes, love?" He turned back to me.

"Stay?" I watched through sleepy eyelids as he went out of the doorway and I felt something in my chest fall, but before it hit the ground all the lights turned off and he was back in the room with nothing but a pair of sweatpants. He crossed the room and wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me into him.

"How long do you want me to stay?" His voice filled my ears and I felt a confident smile form on my face.

"As long as you don't kill me." I teased. He chuckled and kissed my temple.

"Okay, love."
