Just Between You and Me

Us Time

Derek's POV:
I woke up this morning, thinking of Penelope. We haven't talked in a while, or flirting like we always do. Yeah we have cases we need to focus on, but we always find time to flirt. I shower with that on my mind and throw on a black shirt and jeans.
I hurry out the door after eating a bagel and orange juice. I drove to HQ and rode the elevator up to the sixth floor. I had told myself that I would invite Penelope to the park with me for a little date type thing. Me, now being single and free from Savannah, I would actually try and tell her how I've been feeling about her.
I walk down to my office with a file in my hand. I knock on her door,"You may enter the dark realm at your own risk mortal." I walk in with a slight smile on my face, laughing at her silly comments. "Morning Gorgeous." I kiss her cheek and see her blush with that beautiful smile of hers. Oh how I love that smile.
"Hello handsome. Whatcha got for me this morning, dearly beloved?" I hand her the file and we talk things over as she looks up a couple things for me. Towards the end, I look at her,"Garcia, what happened to us." "What do you mean sugar?" she says without looking at me.
"I mean, what happened to all that teasing and witty comments we had over the phone or even at all." She stops and turns to me. She stares for a few seconds and looks into my eyes,"Honestly I don't know. I've wondering the same thing Baby Boy." It gets quiet and we both sigh.
I speak,"How about this. Let's go to the park today, on our lunch break. Just you and me, to talk things over." She looks at me with that curious twinkle in her eyes,"Deal." She smiles and I smile back at her. "Good." I kiss her forehead before leaving and shut the door behind me, smiling all the way back to my desk.

We walk through the park, after going out to get a light lunch together. I walk beside Penelope in her bright green dress and white cardigan with colored dots scattered over it. Her matching green glasses highlighted her cheekbones, making me smile as I thought about them.
She catches me looking,"What are you smiling at?" "Just thinking about how nice you look today." She smiles,"Well thank you. You don't look too bad yourself." I laugh and she winks at me. It goes quiet again. I asked the only thing that was bothering me,"How are you and Sam?"
We come across a bench and sat on it, Penelope was getting tired of walking. "We're... ok." She said with a pause. I noticed that and raised my eyebrow at her,"Ok?" "Yeah." She says looking at the kids playing on the grass. "Penelope." I say to her.
She looks at me with a solid look on her face. Her eyes were light brown in the sun. "To be honest Derek, we broke up." The news hit me like a hammer. "Broke up?" She nods at me and looks back at the grass. I was debating to ask why and I guess she noticed.
"He lost interest in me, if you were wondering why." I look at her and she looks back at me. All I could manage was,"How could someone ever loose interest in you?" She smiles and her face lightens up as I tell her how interesting she really was.
I finish and she giggles,"Well thank you my Prince." I grab her hand and kiss the top,"Only you my Princess." She blushes and I held onto her hand. "Speaking of how interesting you are, I was wondering if you were interested in this question." Her eyebrow raises slightly and the corner of her mouth twitches. "Oh? And what's your question, Mr. Morgan?"
I smiled and looked at my feet. I began to stutter,"Um uh, I-I was wondering if you um wanted to-to be mine?" I stare at her, waiting for a reaction. Her face turns red and her eyes grow wide. She looks at the ground.
"Uh, well, um, I-I'm speechless Derek, um.." She laughs and I pull her closer to me and look her in the eyes. "I love you Penelope, and I don't want anyone else but you." She blushes again and I slowly lean into her. She closes her eyes and so do I. Our lips collide and I embrace her soft lips on mine.
She wraps her arms around my neck and I grab her hips, kissing her slowly. She lightly moans into my mouth and I pull her closer. My phone rings and I try to ignore it, but it broke the mood and I broke away from Penelope. We stare into each other's eyes,"You're way too good at that." I laugh and she smirks at me.
I finally answer my phone, still holding onto her,"Morgan." "Yeah, where are you?" I hear Emily's voice come through on the other end. I laugh,"Just at the park with Garcia for our lunch break." I look at my girlfriend and she kisses my cheek. "Oh really? And what are you two doing there?" she says in a teasing tone. "Tell you when we get back." I hung up and we got up from the bench, walking back to the car hand in hand.
"So, was that a yes?" She stops and presses her lips against mine. I pull her into me. She releases,"You know it." I smile,"How often do I tell you I love you?" "Everyday Baby Boy."
