Penelope's POV:
We had run out of food on Saturday and Derek actually wanted to help me shop for groceries. I knew he was up to something, he never goes with me. But, you never know!
We get to the store and I told him to grab a basket while I fish out the shopping list from my purple purse. He returns and I put my bag into the big part of the basket. I wanted to show him how I shop for groceries, so I made him push the basket.
I got weird looks from women, seeing a couple like us, but it didn't seemed to faze Derek. I smiled a little, knowing how lucky I am to have him as my husband. I stopped in an aisle to read over the list. "Ok, so we have the bread, and milk. Aaand, what else... cereal?" I said to myself.
"Ugh! This is so boring!" I heard Derek groan like a 14 year old boy shopping with his mother. I turn to face him,"Welcome to a woman's world." He smiles at me and I smile back. "Let's make it fun, huh?"
The "Uh oh" sensors went off in my head and it clearly showed on my face. Derek smiled that mischievous smile of his and, before I knew it, he had swept me up and placed me in the basket. I started to panic a little,"D-Derek what are-" "Let's go for a ride baby."
I knew exactly what he was doing. He kissed the top of my head and started pushing the cart with all his might and ran behind it, making sure it kept going. We sped up and the cart started racing down the aisle. He jumped on the back and pushed off with one foot.
By this time I was clutching the basket with all my strength but giggling wildly at the same time. To be honest, we were both still children at heart. I loved that about him, and I saw it in his face, his smile, the sparkle in his eyes.
Everyone stared at us as we passed other aisles. I threw my hands in the air and felt a whole bunch of joy in me. I never knew how fun this could be, even as an adult. We stopped after ten minutes of racing and Derek helped me out of the basket.
He gently picked me up, bridal style, as I held onto his neck. He kissed me all over my face as I giggled and swung my feet. He finally put me down and I straightened myself up. I catch him staring at me and he walks up to me and pulls me close,"I love you, Penelope."
I smiled and kissed him,"And I love you, Derek." He smiled at me,"Even though you almost got us in trouble!" He laughs and let's me go. "I wouldn't say almost." We both freeze and slowly turn to find an angry store manager with crossed arms.
I knew he was up to no good. I glare at Derek and he winks at me with a "at least it was fun, right?" kind of look. I roll my eyes and convince the manager to not ban us from the store and made Derek apologize to the man.
"And that's why men never do the grocery shopping." I say to him with a stern look. He laughs and I smile at him,"Now where were we." "Cereal." "Right!"
