As nova came down the stairs with little Nia bundled in her arms she hummed the baby's favourite tune. Nia lovingly nestled her head in her mum's neck and yawned.
"Is my baby still tired, you've slept lots today!" Nova cooed.
Just as they rounded the corner to the Kitchen Enzo let out a hiss of pain and looked up, unintentionally meeting Nova's eyes. The pair froze, unmoving. Emotions passed between them like never before.
Nova's jaw hung open, disbelief clouding her mind, "Enzo?" she asked in a quiet voice.
Enzo stumbled to his feet, "Holy shit, N-nova?"
Nova's feet stayed planted to where she stood, unmoving, as Enzo came close to her.
Tears filled Enzo's eyes and Nova let out a hoarse breath, covering her mouth in shock. He pulled her into a hug and she let him... for a weak moment until she remembered. Remembered that he left her, that he abandoned her, and turned his back on her during the worst time of their lives.
"No!" She shoved him back, "No, you don't get to do this!"
Agony took over Nova's face, her breath skipping in and out with her heart. Neither of them noticed Dante walk in, "You've got to be kidding me, the fuck did I walk into?" He grumbled.
"Fuck up Dante," Nova scoffed in his face.
Enzo rolled his eyes, "Not now Dante!"
Dante dirty looked him, "You messaged me, not the other way around, idiota."
Enzo's leg was still bleeding, the compress no longer working, "Sit, you're getting blood on the floor." Dante told Enzo.
Enzo sat but his gaze was stuck on Nova, "Please Nova, talk to me." he begged.
Dante looked confused between the pair, "Did I miss anything?"
Nova turned to them, eyes full of tears. "You want me to talk? Talk about how you abandoned me, how you fucking left me?" She said her voice filled with despair and only whispering the swear words for Nia.
"I don't get it," Dante started as he looked up at her from fixing Enzo's leg.
"Shut the fuck up man," Enzo grumbled at him, sick of him sticking his face where it isn't wanted.
Dante held his hands up, "Okayyy, chill." he rolled his eyes at Enzo.
"Nova, please? I lost Rowan, I just couldn't anymore," he begged again.
Nova turned to face him fully, "You couldn't anymore?" She says heartbroken, "I lost him too."
"I know you did, b-but losing a brother." Enzo started.
Nova scoffed and shook her head, "What? You think I don't know that, that you lost a brother? I watched him bleed out, I watched the life leave his eyes."
