More Than Ever Blue

The bitter winter wind was warmed by the firelight,
Your love was so beautiful that it burned my murky nights,
We stuttered on the different lines obscure to the major sights,
We thought we knew it all and were ready to take all the fights,
We belonged to each other but on the world's other side.

We sunk into the waters of a promising sea,
We drowned in a surge, without any plea,
You held me in your arms, with no intention of letting go,
It felt so safe in your embrace like I was the earth to your moon,
I knew we belonged to each other but not in other people's view.

We walked on a bridge made of tender wood,
And there was no home for us, where we could belong,
You looked into my eyes and kissed my forehead,
Then untouched by breath, you went to sleep in the heavens,
I cried to our stars and it was my day of doom,
We belonged to each other but it was more than ever blue.
