CorkStar coughed and laughed even more.
"My biggest dream came true. Though my cost for this big dream is quite the menace." CorkStar laughed.
"What dream?" StarlingClaw sat.
"Defeat a dog for the clan. The best thing about this, FrogCloud will be leader, I always hoped she'll be leader before she retired. There's one thing I want FrogCloud to do first as leader." She spoke, blood dripping from her side to the cold hard ground.
"To make you deputy. You are loyal and caring, you were willing to mentor a blind kit. No cat would have done that." Tears started to fall down her pelt.
"NightBlair is coming with herbs! Stay strong, I'll get help!" StarlingClaw ran into camp. Cats were waiting in the medicine den.
"NightBlair, its CorkStar!" StarlingClaw could feel tears pouring from his eyes. NightBlair ran, and StarlingClaw followed, but when they got back, she was dead. Cats whispered, FrogCloud hopped onto the HighStone.
"Today, CorkStar has passed away, and we will travel after the gathering. Before that we don't need to any kind of patrols. The herbs are used for all the wounds from this battle. Fresh-kill from the pile is for kits and elders. While the warriors and apprentices will fetch their own prey." FrogCloud mewed.
The moon was gloomy, at the gathering, cats were confused, why was there queens, kits, elders, untill they saw FrogCloud on the willow-stones.
"A couple days after the last gathering, a dog attacked the front of the camp, our leader was the first to react. And died. In her favor of my deputy, who will be decided, today, here and now." FrogCloud watched all the warriors gathered around. Till she layed her eyes on StarlingClaw.
"StarlingClaw, you were willing to help the kits, and after the aftermath of the battle, you stayed by her side till death. You called for NightBlair for CorkStar, but not you. You think about others needs than your needs. That's why I want you to be deputy." FrogCloud insisted.
"And I will receive the name, when me and NightBlair head to the top of the tree. But before that, I want to ask seven kits to step up." FrogCloud looked toward SnowCloud and BrindleTail. Bloom was carrying RainKit, while ShadeKit and SorrelKit sat beside.
"CometKit, RedKit, AshKit, VoleKit, FrostKit, CloudKit and- wait where's PatchKit?" FrogCloud paused. All the cats forgotten about PatchKit. SootStream panicked beside FireWhisker and ran out to the field. PatchKit lied lifeless in the vole-pool, cats were horrified from the kit, how could they not noticed!?
But FrogCloud continued the ceremony, after PatchKit was buried. And they left...
