StarlingClaw could smell blood of foxes scattered around vole-pool. CinnamonPaw took more time around the vole-pool, and then SwanLeap was asked to check the water, and then they found something unexpected.
"Curses of the Sun!" CinnamonPaw cursed as SwanLeap dragged a bloody corpse, it was a fox.
"Even SunClan wouldn't have seen this." NightBlair examined the bloody scars from the massive claws of the mysterious culprit.
"Whatever killed this fox, had a thirst of blood. And made sure it was killed. Mauled, then drowned in the vole-pool, and it seems poisoned. Possibly from the water, that water is obviously infected." Cats whispered, as NightBlair stood up from the corpse.
"SwanLeap, take SpiderStripe to follow any remaining fox scents. If one fox is around, there will be more." NightBlair turned his head toward SwanLeap's direction.
"Ancestors of SunClan, please guide our clan to safety." CinnamonPaw prayed.
"That won't be necessary, CinnamonPaw. Nothing will save us from what lies behind the death of this poor creature." NightBlair looked up to the bright orange sky.
"FrostKit, CloudKit, head to the nursery, now! LilyStream go with them, and take ShadowFoot with you." StarlingClaw yowled, as a low growl approached the camp, loud foot steps.
"No dog will harm a single hair of my clan!" CorkStar jumped onto the large beast. Claws reached to CorkStar, blood being drawn. A screech echoed. StarlingClaw ran to the nursery, kits crying, shrieking.
"Silence." SnowCloud whispered to the kits.
"Most warriors will accompany the nursery, while the rest go ahead and help CorkStar. This is not a fight, it's a retreat. If we could fight the dog, it will be difficult." StarlingClaw mewed.
"StarlingClaw, go help CorkStar, we have enough warriors over there!" FrogCloud yowled. NightBlair was clawing though the thristles to take the kits to the willow tree, while CinnamonPaw gathered herbs. StarlingClaw ran off to the bloody battle. He couldn't see CorkStar, only a yowl. It turned quiet, the dog fell onto the hard ground. CorkStar and the dog lied there, blood scattered everywhere. StarlingClaw ran to CorkStar's side, she was still breathing heavily from the battle. She laughed, how deranged was she!? StarlingClaw thought.
