You run into Mirabel when coming out of Camilo's room.
"Are you guys ok?" She asks
"No, where did I go?" Camilo asks.
"What?" Mirabel gives a concerned look.
"Y/N's dad stole my power and is going to steal more, did you see him?" Camilo asks, panicked.
Mirabel processes for a moment before her eyes widen. Delores runs up the stairs, obviously also hearing.
"I heard him going towards Antonio's room." She exclaims.
Camilo breaks into a sprint towards Antonio's room and the rest of you struggle to keep up. He rips open the door and you see your pápá, still disguised as Camilo, climbing a tree up to where Antonio is sitting next to a Jaguar.
"Stop!" You yell "Papá don't do this!"
Your papá ignores you but Antonio turns towards you and his brow furrows. He sees Camilo; his real brother, and a look of fear starts to set in. He backs away from your papá down the tree branch and the jaguar begins to growl. Your papá crawls onto the branch and puts his hands up in an innocent way.
"Camilo?" He asks wearily.
"No!" Camilo yells and he flys towards the tree.
"That's not me!" He yells as he climbs the tree. You run after him, followed by Delores. Mirabel stays by the door and yells out for help. Camilo stumbles a bit, clearly not used to not having his gift, but scales the tree quickly.
You watch as your papá tries to reach out for Antonio before Camilo can get to him, only to be attacked by the jaguar. The jaguar claws at your papa's outstretched hand, then yowls in pain as your papá fights back and you see the claw wounds start to heal. The jaguar recoils then pounces and your papá and the jaguar fall to the ground in front of you and Delores. Winded, your papá laboriously reaches for the jaguar but it dodges in time.
Camilo jumps out of the tree as your papá rolls over and grabs Delores' ankle for a second. She cries out in pain which causes your papá to keel over again and put his hands on his ears. Delores jumps back.
"Don't do this! There has to be another way! Please!" You beg him.
"This was all for your mamá Y/N. You betrayed us." He says, then turns invisible.
"No!" Camilo yells and tackles where he used to be. Camilo seems to hit something clumsily and fall on the floor. He sits up and you all tense, straining to figure out where he is. Delores puts a hand to her ear but the confusion in her face shows her gift hasn't returned yet. Then the jaguar sniffs and looks at the door.
"He said he's trying to escape!" Antonio yells from the branch. You all aimlessly run towards the door that Mirabel is now blocking but it's too late as Mirabel cries out and doubles over.
Suddenly your papá becomes visible in the doorway and turns to look at you.
"Papá please stop." You plead, tears welling in your eyes.
Camilo rushes to help Mirabel up. Camilo's anger also gives way to desperation.
"Our family has been nothing but kind to you, how could you do this?" Camilo asks. You could almost swear he sings it.
"I... Maria... I need help to find her." Your papá is... harmonising?
Your papá stands there for a moment, looking confused, then horrified.
"What have I done?" He says, then collapses to the ground.
You all gather around him as he struggles to breathe.
"I see it now," he says weakly, "I've been so blinded by my own pain that I didn't see how much I was hurting all of you. Please forgive me."
You all sit there in silence for a moment, unsure of what to do.
