Conan and Yoko walked the streets. They hadn't spoken that much since leaving Agasa, and the girl felt exhausted. Exhausted and lost. For so long she had been surrounded by two people in the same situation as her. And she had learned a lot about them as well as about Gin and Vodka.
Gin. Vodka. These two people having destroyed her life. Could they really find her? Or those they work with? The former high school student didn't want it. But if she hadn't been found until today, could it happen? She knew so, but hoped not.
- Can you go home alone?
Yoko jumped and looked around. Conan was behind her, towards the cafe "Poirot" which was below where he lived. Immersed in her thoughts, she hadn't paid attention to him, or even to what was around her.
-I could go home alone, don't worry... And... Thank you...
-Eh ?
-Thank you for telling me about everything... Your situation has you and Haibara-san as well as Gin and Vodka... Even if to be honest you could have approached the subject differently instead of scaring me.
The boy let out a small laugh. It's true that the other night, he hadn't been reassuring. But it had led to this conversation, which had not been useless, and rather interesting on certain points.
-Well see you tomorrow. He finally says.
-Yeah...
She watched him go to the detective agency, where he lived, before leaving in turn, walking rather quickly.
Yoko unlocked the apartment door. She entered and saw Jinpei's shoes. He had already returned. Or rather, it was she who had dragged on.
-I'm back ! she announced.
-I guessed it. replied the policeman.
The girl rolled her eyes. It was true that it was stupid to specify it when she was the only one able to enter when the door was closed. Or at least a priori. She didn't know if anyone else had the key.
- Sorry to be back a bit late. She apologized.
-You are no longer a child, you can do whatever you want.
He wasn't wrong, although he couldn't tell that based on her looks.
The kid with the glasses went to put her bag in her room. Then, she returned to Jinpei.
-So how did it go ? he asked after yawning.
-Eh ?
-You spoke with the kid with glasses, otherwise you wouldn't have dragged around so much.
She sighed before going to sit on the couch. She must have had trouble hiding things from him.
- Well... I learned a lot of things... I admit that it's a bit of a mess in my head... But Conan-kun and Haibara-san don't look bad to me and they would be in the same situation as mine, according to what they told me... She explained.
Jinpei let out a smile, almost mocking.
-I told you not to worry!
- Sorry to have been scared! Yoko said sulkily.
-If not, if you tell me in more detail what you have learned?
The girl sighed.
-It's still confusing, it would be necessary before I manage to sort it out... I'll tell you everything when I've managed to clear it all up!
-Don't forget anything until then.
- Hey! I don't have a short memory huh!
The younger puffed out her cheeks.
After a moment of silence, the former high school girl decided to speak again.
-I noticed that I never asked you how your days were going by the way... She asked, looking away a little.
-Are you interested ?
Jinpei raised his eyebrows. Like she said, she never asked him, so why now?
- In my defense, I don't know what a policeman does with his days! So yes, I'm a bit interested.
He sighed. He didn't have much to talk about, especially today which had been a rather quiet day.
-Nothing unusual happened. He finally answers.
Yoko's interested expression turned into a slightly disappointed expression.
- Okay, I'm going to cook...
The man followed her with his gaze. Since he got her back, she had changed a lot, both in her way of speaking and acting, which was in both cases more confident. She was also more reassured than before, hanging out for a long time, no longer trying to hide. She had to take a side on her, but she was better, and this, certainly thanks to the conversations she had had, plus the fact of hanging out with the kids in her class.
Once finished eating, Yoko went to her room, changed and went to bed. She stared at the ceiling for a moment, starting to get lost in thought, before trying to sleep. But the more she tried, the less she succeeded.
After several minutes, she got up and grabbed a sheet from her room.
-I'm going to write everything down, so it's done...
She took a notebook as a support and a pencil and began to write down everything she knew, what she had learned. She wanted to at least clear her head, to feel less lost.
The girl eventually stopped writing, scanning her notes.
-Nevertheless...
She began to stare at the name of the thing she had taken. Apotoxin 4869.
-... Why it didn't kill me... Just like for Conan and Haibara... I should have asked for more precision on that I think... But...
She finally got up and opened the window. The air was immediately felt. Pleasant, but cold. The end of October felt.
The former high school student was content to stare at the buildings with illuminated windows. She had so many questions in her mind. Maybe when she was alone with Conan or Ai again, she could ask them.
Beginning to be cold, Yoko decided to grab her vest. She didn't know when she was going to be able to sleep, so she might as well stay warm.
