The creaking of the door had Krishn looking up, his heartbeat was a cocktail of anticipation and anxiety.
The roiling feeling of heaviness on his chest, it seeped all the calmness from him.
"Come in."
Isha whispered, leading him in.
And there on the bed lay Ruhi's form.
"Leave us alone."
His voice was dry, as his throat tightened, eyes shining with moisture.
He could feel Isha's hesitation.
"She's fine with me. I'll protect her."
He whispered, turning his gaze to look at the woman, who had looked after his girl in his absence.
Isha gazed at him with last time before turning on her heels and shutting the door behind her.
He turned back to his girl.
Now that he was here, he couldn't wait to erase the distance between them.
Moments and memories flashed through his mind.
Tears tracing down his cheeks even faster.
Moving the canopy aside, for the first time after what seemed like in forever, an eternity , his gaze settled on the woman he loved.
The one he cherished.
The final piece of his heart.
The precious jewel of his life.
And nothing could have prepared him for the emotions that tore through his chest like a tornado, leaving piece of him in its wake.
Happiness flooded him, but was soon replaced by the toxic wrath of anger that spread throughout his body.
He knew that she had been injured, he could feel all the pain in her body, he had absorbed all that as his own.
But seeing the evidence, woke a demon of wrath in him. That demanded the heads of all those who dare look at her wrong.
She was his.
A reason for him to live.
His soul.
The very fabric of his existence.
And seeing her hurt, made him feel shattered.
"Kanha..."
Her soft voice had him jolting out of his thoughts.
Disbelief rang through her words, he could hear the joy and the fear that all this was just her imagination.
The moment was too perfect.
He could feel her hesitancy.
"Ruhi."
He whispered her name reverently, too afraid to speak out loud, what if it was all a dream?
Her radiant face had his heart thumping erratically in his chest, the soft smile that spread across her lips, made his soul soar high.
But her pain, it still made his heart bleed.
He sat beside her, placing his palm on her forehead. Shutting his eyes, he let his warmth pour into her.
Her body heated, his healing aura poured into her, knitting all the tears and bumps in her body.
The pain that had just been a memory vanished, making her feel like she could finally breath easily.
